Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

We also lost the league to Leicester. As did Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and United. Why are Spurs the only side criticised for that?

We had a team consisting of Aguero, KDB, Sterling, Kompany etc as well.

How were the Dippers there for the taking exactly? They went 1-0 up early doors to a ridiculously harsh penalty and were up against it ever since. Liverpool were and remain a class above Spurs.
Because it was between spurs and leicester, you cant say leicester had the better players, how many years is it said that they are in the title race just to fall away, the rest of us were out of it
The game with the dippers went as we thought, mane i think kicking it at the player to take advantage of the handball rule, after that the dippers didnt play well neither did spurs because they lost their nerve, the dippers werent all that in the game, spursy, push comes to shuff and no gonads in any competition.I would be gutted if poch turned up here

I actually find the idea that Pep couldn't successfully manage a lower level team successfully quite laughable. I'm quite sure that a manager of Pep's knowledge, ability and intelligence could adapt to that if he wanted to. But why the fuck would he ever want to!?

He's the perfect coach for teams with lots of money and top players because he operates on a level that few coaches do, which is exactly why he could apply himself to managing any team he chose.

I’m not saying that he couldn’t manage at a lower level, he was successful with the Barca B side.

I just don’t think that he could walk into Spurs or Arsenal, operate within their budgets and enjoy the same level of success he’s had at Barca, Bayern and City.

At City he bought Bravo for £18 million, that didn’t work out so he bought Ederson for £30+ million. He inherited a weakness at full back and was given nearly £120 million on three full backs.

At Arsenal or Spurs he’d have to persist with the players he bought and look for cheaper alternatives to the finished article.

In his first season at City he knew that his players could not play his system. Instead of adapting to them, he insisted on his way and replaced those ill suited to his style. Long-term that paid off but he would not have that luxury at the majority of clubs.

What I’m saying about Pep applies to every manager by the way. Money and talent is the key to winning trophies. At the very top level, Pep does it better than any other. But I don’t think Pep would fare much better than the likes of Pochettino when managing a club in the tier below the elite.

Our fullbacks were all over thirty, sagna was 33,they would have been replaced at any top club tbf

Can I just say that I could not give one single fuck about the CL.

The 2 PLs, the FA Cup, 3 LCs, Centurions and Treble winning season are for what I am very happy with.

The Big Boss will decide if CL is a be all and end all for us but, like many Blues, it’s not that much for many of us.

Hmm. Still managed to make a complete mess of the line up v Lyon.

Did Bayern protect their fragile defence (Boateng) tonight?

Did he mess Lyon up ....?
Yes we lost and are out however we played Spurs and Liverpool away in our usual open attacking style got knocked out and castigated in the press
We play Lyon he goes defensive to protect our vulnerable areas
However the first goal is debatable slight Garci error slight Emerson error MAYBE ( maybe great Finnish)
Then with circa 70 percent possession we are level
Sterling horror miss Jesus miss and Laporte VAR moment
Followed by another uncharacteristic Eddie fumble , those misses and mistakes don’t happen we win comfortably
I feel sorry for Pep

However I love him, his honesty and charisma that said sign and commit circa 2/3 years or go
We want stability and continuity during our rebuild

If it's his last year we need to know so we can plan, appoint, recruit and refresh. If he's staying then we need to refresh the squad and clear the deadwood.

Surely we've asked Pep what the hell is going on?
