Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I can't see Vincent Kompany leaving Anderlecht to come manager of Man City. He needs to win things at Anderlecht first and foremost, plus he is on the board of directors their as well. Therefore he wouldn't be able to come and manage Man City, as their could be a conflict of interest should we ever draw them in a European comp.. There would also be to much pressure on him to succeed in the post.

So no as much as I would like to see Vincent come back here I am not sure he is the right one to follow Pep, when he decides to go. I would go for MIkel Arteta from Arsenal and do the same to them as they did to us and approach him before speaking to the Arsenal board.

Won’t be the manager of this club for a while in my opinion if ever. Much better suited to a directors role ‘Head of Football’ type. Handles himself brilliantly in front of the media and clearly a very interlligent and as we have been fortunate to witness over the years driven character. Needs to have some role in the club whatever that may be.

With obvious exceptions, which manager would turn down the chance to manage City?

I don't understand why so many seem to think is it better to lose in a semi or a final rather than earlier on. If you dont win it then you are a loser, regardless of whether it's in the group stages or from a 90th minute goal in the final.

For teams and players that haven't won it, the experience of the big stage counts. Bayern had that advantage, Liverpool had it over Tottenham having been to a Europa League and Champions League final the previous seasons. Also, the higher prize money for a late exit.

The more regularly you deeper you go into the competition, the more likely you are to win it.
