Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I do think we need to give pep a contract extension even if it has clauses that allow either party to walk away whenever. Not saying today was quite sven against boro or mancini losing to Wigan, but both these examples show how a team can drift when they know the boss is on his way.

Erm I'm pretty sure if you read it I said he's bought some bad 1s did I not?

Garcia I've no idea but who else could have played? Gundogan gets more stick than he deserves he's been very good for us many a time he only gets the abuse when we lose.

This is no other manager this is Pep Guardiola not fucking Steve Coppell, nobody is available that's anywhere near Pep level so I give him a chance.
I agree re Gundo btw.
But the reality is we have one of the most expensively assembled squads of all time. Now either Txiki has been fucking up big time or Pep has because to be frank today like Lyon and Norwich away we have been a shambles.

I can't argue the results and I'm as pissed of as anyone but I think the blame lies with the board and I say that because Pep wanted a CB last summer and they didn't get him 1, it's took them till tonight.

Don't get me wrong some of Peps tactics really baffle & piss me off, today I was fuming with Garcia starting but then thought who else can play? He fucked up at 1-1 taking Dinho off big time but we honestly don't help ourselves, Dinho at 1-0 heads straight at Kasper, Walker has a daft moment and gives a pen away, Mahrez at 1-1 has a chance to put Foden in on goal and doesn't can Pep be held responsible for that?

That's my opinion at the minute.

Ridiculous to lash out at Pep.

Problems are straightforward:
- Spectacular roster of injuries amongst key senior players including both main strikers.
- No pre-season in which to prepare the squad for the season ahead.
- During the very short break between seasons, most first-choice City players were called up for international duty.

No manager can do much about any of these three factors.

Other unusual factors include extraordinary fixture congestion and zero motivating atmosphere in near-empty stadia.

Recovery from these issues may come too late for a realistic Premiership title challenge this season.
So perhaps the best hope this season is for Cup competitions which progress after the injury crisis (hopefully) recedes.

I certainly wouldn't wish to lose Pep based on three unfortunate factors beyond the control of him or any other manager. A fully-fit and fresh City squad is an entirely different proposition from what Pep is juggling with at the moment. And that is before considering any new transfers arriving before the window closes.

Sometimes you just have to acknowledge unfortunate circumstances. Today is one of those times. It's not on Pep.

And speaking of bad luck, when was the last time City had THREE penalties awarded against them in a single match?

The most welcome news for me right now would be Pep signing a long contract extension.

A lot of things went against us, but you can’t put this all down to unfortunate circumstances. It is very clear that we struggle to defend with our high line against quick attackers. This is not the first time that Vardy has embarrassed us and I don’t think it will be the last. Not unless we start to actually learn from our mistakes.

Recruitment is the single biggest issue that we have. At the centre of recruitment we have Txiki, Ferran and Pep. All three share similar ideas and the environment is too cosy. We’re suffering from groupthink. What we really need to do is bring in an outsider to shake up our recruitment. The scouting could do with a refresh whilst we’re at it.

Surely the biggest problem is that we camp so high up the pitch compressing the opposition into an unbreakable block and we don’t have the ability to cope with their inevitable breakaways

In the cold light of day this is probably the most sensible post of the day and thread. Even Pep cant do much about injuries and having to play shit players in defence.
The truth is we got well and truly mugged by a brilliant and ruthless striker playing in a well disciplined, hard working and talented team. Can you just imagine how many goals we would score if Vardy was our front man ?

Pep had Torrent and Arteta, both strong assistant managers. Losing Arteta has been huge, and his qualities as a coach are now being seen at Arsenal. I think he was also the conduit between Pep and the players. Not going to happen, but we could do with someone like Vinnie around.
