Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

The real question is can we afford to give Pep a new contract. At the moment I don't think that he deserves a new contract at all. There are plenty of reason why he should not be given one.

1st failure to find a replacement for Vincent Kompany
2nd so far a failure to find a replacement for Sergio Aguero
3rd so far a failure to find a replacement for Fernandinho
4th failure to find a replacement for Zabaleta.
5th failure to find a replacement for Yaya.
6th failure to bring in a good young coach to replace him should he leave. yet he brings in a coach much older than he his who no doubt will be moved on should we get a new coach

These were the backbone of the team for years and yet one by one Pep has let them go. yet he still hasn't found a replacement for Yaya 2 seasons on. Pep more than likely knew the season Vinny left that he wouldn't be staying on did he bother looking for a replacement no. Last season and so far this season he ahs nor deserved a new contract.

I say that we as a club should now be looking at a replacement for Pep. There is still a week left of this transfer window to bring in players ready to play in the first team. There seems to be more speculation of players leaving than staying. Even today there is talks of both Garcia and Zinchenko both going to Barcelona. There is no news of incoming transfers.

Has Pep come up with any new ideas about how to play football no. He still insists on playing the way he playing the same way as when he first came to England. Every manager now knows the way he will play, and so they will pack the defence play the long ball forward have a speedy forward and race away to try and score. If pep continues trying to play his way we will suffer more defeats this season than last season. Either pep comes up with some new ideas of how to play or let him go at the end of his contract

Does seem like Pep and squad getting tired of each other. does players 100% believe current tactics will get them PL title and CL title?

Do players give 110% currently? Did they do last season?

Pep is probably really undecided on the renewal, because he must be seeing the same. Does the players react same way to his methods like 3 years ago? Are those methods still as good as they were given how opponents have adapted.
Can he get the absolute best out of the majority of the squad or was last season the best they could do?

There is an uncertainty around the whole thing, and that is why we are in limbo if he is staying or going. Of course it has effect on how we play. Is this a farewell season to Pep?

Maybe the Messi saga plays a role too, he would fancy a Messi reunion one last time, and Messi would only arrive if Pep will oversee that period as a manager. Fort that reason Pep cannot say he is leaving as that would finish off the chance to get Messi.

But at this point I might would spend big on a top midfielder and LB and striker than get Messi here have a big commercial circus for one year maybe then him and Pep leave soon and we still would need an LB, a top quick midfielder and a striker.

I would fucking give away 5% of CFG to sign an proper LB and someone taking over from Kun and get an upgrade Gundogan and fitness coaches who will make sure each of our players are at their top of their fitness to start heavy pressing again...
What is 110%? : /

Most of injured players should be back after international break, if we dont put together a great run of results from middle of October until December we are fucked.

And CL group stage will be a heavy schedule, the 6 group games will be played in much tighter way, only 1 week break between the CL games instead of two weeks. Important games will come quick and fast...
If we end up in a very hard CL group and then play Liverpool, Chelsea etc on the weekends we can be in trouble. This really will be matches every 3 day now starting from Arsenal game...

These are the CL match dates:
20–21 October 2020
27–28 October 2020
3–4 November 2020
24–25 November 2020
1–2 December 2020
8–9 December 2020

Can we even afford to go into this season with no idea of who our manager will be in 12 months? Aren't we in a rebuild with City legends leaving and new players arriving? If the players have no idea what our long term goals/plan is and who will be spearheading the plan, they won't respond to tactics and we can even lose all 4 competitions in 3-4 months.

The decision has to be made now, not end of the season, where looking at current performances, we have no idea where we will be. Pep has to tell us if he is in for the rebuild or he wants this as his last season. Seeing the lack of stability around tactics, ideas and execution, we need some long term assurance or a clear 'No' so we can look for replacements.

Julian Nagelsmann
I have a feeling Nagelsmann may be the next manager at City. Certainly a better prospect than Poch. My first preference would be to try and get Arteta back. I think he was always supposed to be our next manager. It will be very hard to replace one of the best managers in history.

I don't see a point in him signing/extending new contract. In my view, all top managers are one-trick ponies and as soon as the trick stops, they walk. And right now, that trick became self-delusion. The system that he created made us one of the most beautiful and ruthless sides in the history of modern English football. But it also gradually corroded and then destroyed the ability of our players to think for themselves and outside that system. And once our system is breached we just end up collapsing like a wet, smelly beach towel.
I think your wording is a tad harsh but you make a good point. All great managers operate for a peak period and then the bubble bursts (one possible exception is Ferguson at United who lasted longer than most) Our current team is certainly lacking leadership on the pitch and that may be because Pep's style restricts them a bit mentally.
That said Pep is one of the best in history and definitely the best we will ever see. I wish we could give him a year-off to re-charge his batteries. Last season with injuries, and the UEFA court battle, and all the stress of Covid, personal bereavements etc etc has taken its toll on Pep. He's not superhuman and just needs a break.

Arteta Won’t leave Arsenal feels like has more of them in his heart than he ever had City.

If that is the manager we want let's try and get him to sign a contract to start from the close of this season. Then we will know where we will start from for next season. He has done a tremendous job at RB Leipzig. This is the ideal manager to take over from Pep.

bobbyowenquiff and who should take over while Pep takes a season long break. Do you have anyone in mind, and if so who. Then should he win us the Premier League or the Champions League do you then say thank you and not offer him a contract to take over from Pep. That would be rank bad management from the board. That is unless you make him Pep's assistant with a guarantee that he will be come the next manager when Pep decides to go. That is the only way I can see someone coming to the club and manage for just a year
