Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

The trend of throwing an ex player into a role too big for them seems to be gathering pace. As much as I love Kompany and hope it will happen some day it is far too much of a risk.

Christ I hear some rubbish spouted about Vinny not having enough experience or being unproven, well would those people rather have Ancelotti, Mourinho or even Benitez? All have experience, all have had previous success at times but none of them would guarantee us anything with regard to success nor would any of their like be desperate to succeed. For me Vinny is an absolute must and it would be much easier to accept any dip during a rebuild with him in charge rather than people who have zero affiliation to our club like all these new kids on the block.

There is a reason Barca have gone to Koeman and Madrid have Zidane, and it wasn't because Koeman won fuck all at Everton nor Zidane had no experience, it was because they understand and align their philosophies to their clubs.

You use the word rubbish, that sums your post up perfectly.

Well it's high time we had a good enough defence. What are our recruitment team at? People are far too forgiving as far as the champions League goes. I hope Pep is embarrassed by losing to Lyon ,if not he should be. He has not improved out fortunes one iota in that competition . had we went down all guns blazing fair enough but we didn't and the way Pep set us up was the main reason for that. Missed opportunity for me.
Disagree about Walker imo one of the best right backs the club has had and still head and shoulders above Cancelo

Not a chance yet and if he was to take it it would be the first red flag that he’s not ready for it.

I’m not happy with Pep right now, but I struggle to see who fills that role right now. Nagelsmann and Tuchel will be the trendy picks but let’s sit back and see what the next year brings.

There's plenty of time for Vinnie to come back to the club. He needs to broaden his horizons first, get himself some experience and I'm sure eventually he'll return in some capacity.

Having a chat with my mate about this last night.

I was saying that for me it’s a no brainer to give Vincent the managers/head coach role when Pep decides to go.

Yes, he hasn’t got much managerial experience but what he has got is exceptional people skills, natural leadership, respect and authority which is more than half the battle. He also know the club and hierarchy inside out.

Experience is often over rated for me. Take Hansi Flick for example. Only ever been an assistant- he’s given an opportunity and wins everything.

It’s a big yes from me and I hope we can welcome Vincent home soon.
Vinnie has had one (curtailed) season as coach of a mid table team in Belgium, and hasn’t even got his full coaching badges yet. There may well come a time, and I really hope there does, but not yet, for a few years

After a couple of (hopefully successful) years gaining experience at Anderlecht, I hope this happens. I get the feeling the club see this as the long term plan too

Don't forget, Pep had zero experience coaching at first team level when he took the big job at Barca... he hasn't done too bad
