Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I wonder, if Arteta hadn't left for Arsenal, whether the panic on here about what the club needs to do for next season, or an announcement absolutely needed instantly for whatsver reason, would be any less pressing. As we wiukd all adsume that when he leaves a replacement is ready to carry on.

Or, whether it would just instead be a case of 'pep needs to leave now and give arteta a chance' after one loss and two draws.

I’m a KFA but I suspect if Messi comes then Pep will stay. If he doesn’t then he will leave. No inside knowledge but his morose demeanour doesn’t bode well imo. We have played some amazing football in Pep’s time for which I will always be grateful but everything comes to an end eventually.

I think that City's problem is that they can't say if Pep is staying or not until we have lined up his replacement. If Pep said he wasn't extending then it would kill the season because players and fans would be speculating on who was coming in (never mind the media). It would have been much easier if Arteta had stayed and Pep could have helped him transition to the top job.
I think we will hear by Christmas one way or the other and my gut feeling is that Pep will not re-sign his contract. We will hear at the same time who is coming in. I would have loved Arteta and Vinny as a management team but suspect now that it will be Nagelsman (also a good choice in my view.)
