Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Just because we don't know what's happening, doesn't mean the club doesn't know, or are comfortable with what's happening. No matter how much we guess and speculate really we haven't a clue, those that need to will.

The damage caused by the current approach and uncertainty is exacerbated by the fact that there are probably only 4/5 candidates who could realistically replace Guardiola, and that these candidates will likely be approached by other clubs in the coming months. So dither and delay could impact the next appointment as well.

The only way that I can square the lack of leadership shown by the club is if the futures of other people, such as Begiristain, are also tied to Guardiola's position, and there's a reluctance to make wholesale changes this early in the season.
I'm honestly not that concerned about finding a replacement. Nagelsmann is the dream, but Pochettino is available and certainly interested. Brendan Rodgers would be a fine appointment also, and would probably walk barefoot over glass to accept the job. We won't be short of good candidates, that's for sure.

I want Pep to extend because I still believe he is one of the best tacticians out there.

That being said, he bothers me with statements like ”I don’t teach tackles” and ”I can’t teach forwards how to finish because that’s their job”.

Clearly Sterling hasn’t really improved his shooting or finishing all that much since Pep came in. He sure shows up in all the right places for tap-ins and such, but his finishing is STILL hideous. I can’t think of another forward who waste more chances than him. Rashford has a clean strike but Sterling can’t shoot like him even in his wildest dreams. His strike is terrible and not very clean and his decisionmaking is still haunting him, year after year.

As for some expensive signings like Rodri and Cancelo, I’d expect a lot more for them given their price and Peps teaching. It’s like he continues to buy all the wrong players for his own system. These guys are hugely expensive defenders, yet both of them fail a lot in that area. That’s on Pep.

I love how we play on a good day but sometimes I have serious doubts about Pep. I believe he gives some of his players a bit too much freedom and not enough hands-on teaching. Some players just keep making the same mistakes. On the other side, I see Klopp holding his players on a short leash and constantly improving them and erasing mistakes going forward. I don’t really see that in Peps coaching.
Another newbie slagging raz in a different thread, slagging pep and bigging up klopp, well done on a pile of factually incorrect bollocks

Jack Gaughan is pretty well connected at the club - that link to Poch and Nagelsmann may well be sourced beyond mere speculation on his part. Could this be the club trying to move him toward a decision?

For me I'd love him to stay. Announce tomorrow even a one year extension and so many clouds would dissipate. Having him as manager gives us clout in world football beyond anyone else available. And beyond that, I do have faith in him to work out solutions to get the most out of the squad.

It is him leaving us dangling right now that really harms things on so many levels.

He is a dickhead who can only win things in scotland , i would be gutted to replace pep with him or poch
I think Pep is waaaay better than Rodgers and Poch but the thing about Poch is this, his pragmatic approach actually works in the CL and I believe if Poch comes here he might just take us to the ucl final. If Pep doesn't sign an extension and that's a big if then I would support a short term 3 year contract for Poch after that then maybe we can follow the Bayern approach and build the entire management team from within - Maybe a Vinny/Zab management team.

Poch got passed us in the cl because the ref wasnt shown the behind the goal handball angle , the cl is a lot about luck and who you are , he got to the final then froze after they went behind really early ,the prem he has been in the leading pack for a while but then drops off , he hasnt won a single cup , all despite six years ish here ,he would be a massive step down , rodgers would be even further down

What a thoughtful retort.

Oh I'm sorry, would "I don't think concluding that because the manager has not signed a new contract yet with only 8 months left on his current one is grounds for concluding he thinks he is bigger than the club when he has clearly stated that he wants to stay but has to deserve to" suit you better?

I thought about and you got what I thought about it: utter bovine excrement, nonsense, not remotely supported by logic.

His family have not moved back to spain, he wife and one kid went back ages ago for a short time to deal with business then came back. He was asked by journos if he took a bung, if he doesnt win the cl then he is a failure and if he is tainted by our ban ,he is pissed off with their inane questions

seen nothing about his wife and daughter moving back to Manchester, have you got a link?

You think he’s still sullen in his press confrences from a question asked in May 2019?

They are close mates , they dont need to brief a journo to put out some names , that is a really weird thing to see repeated on here .clearly they are all comfortable and everyone is fully in the loop, our desire to know doesnt matter

I post every one of his press conferences , the same inane questions every week , questions to try and get a negative angle , nothing much about tactics and sometimes nothing about the game at all , he has never liked talking to our journos , when he gets the questions from the ones from spain after our lot have asked theirs he light up like a dec
