Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

I'll be disappointed if it's only for 1 year, when players have signed contracts to play for Pep
It’d be a one year rolling contract which would serve both club and manager well.
People just want something to moan about on here.

Pep might just want to see how things are in the world in a years time. If crowds are back in full and we’ve got a good blend in the team again then he’ll probably want to stay even longer.

I think just one of the reasons he’ll want to stay is because he doesn’t want to go out in an empty stadium. He’ll want to live his experiences with a full crowd again. Obviously that’s just on top of being happy with those he works with etc.

Ultimately they sign for the club, but there can be no denying many players are also attracted by the manager.
I don't doubt they are attracted by the manager, when they sign, but doubt they sign a 5 year contractexpecting the manager to be still there for the entire 5 years

Could it be one of those extensions that Pellegrini signed just before Pep came in? Designed to get the media off his back but essentially meaningless?
Quite different. Pellegrini signes it the year before his last one, when the media were putting pressure claiming he would get the sack (with klopp of all people having been linked as the supposed replacement before he went to varpool).

Pep's if true would be being announced at the same time that theyncould also announce the next manager, or even that he wont renew, if it were the case, so i don't think they are comparable, i think it is a genuine extension. if true.

Have you ever read catch 22?
Hilts, I was a bit aggrovated by his flippant comment about F***king Pep off more than anything. Total disrespect for the greatest manager we've ever had and likely to have in my life time.

Pep will sign a 12 month extension contract and it will be a rolling contract - been mentioned previously that this is the route as there is trust between the parties

I would prefer him to extend for two more seasons, if he is as happy as he says then why not , crowds should be back and it should be normal ish , leave on a high hopefully

I hope you are right, those 2 seasons were brilliant not that he or the team got as much credit as deserved. If I’m wrong and you get me tickets for the Masters I shall buy you a drink or 10 to celebrate. I’ll even throw in a steak dinner:-)
I cant ask for more than that hilts mate :-)

I start working on the 2021 Masters!!

If he's as happy as he says he is, and continues to be so, then what difference does it make? He'll sign a further extension (if offered)

I don't think there's anything to worry about with a rolling contract especially with the relationships between all concerned. No doubt Pep will give plenty of notice if he decides he's had enough.

The only problem I can see is it feels like the can has been kicked down the road. In 12 months the whole thing is going to rear up again especially with our shit stitring media. Would much prefer a 2 year extension even if we was telling porkies that could be terminated by mutual consent.

Just prefer to know where we are i suppose
But you wouldn't know any more than you do now. He could walk or be sacked after 6 months of a 1 or 10 year contract. It's arguably better if it's a 1 year contract, as the pay off would be lower if we needed to sack him, and he's more likely to stay to the end of his contract if he decides he wants to leave

What is a 12 months rolling contract? Does it renew for another 12 months automatically and forever?

I guess it renews if mutually agreed by both parties at the end of the season. Bielsa operates on the exact same basis at Leeds currently.
