Pep's contract situation

We have a lot of ego-free "nice guys" in our team. I think Walker represents something different to that and the management/players appreciate that it takes a variety of personality types to make an effective unit.

Yep and pep in a way said that something like anything is wrong with the group he and the players sort it out not him

United had years to prepare for Ferguson's departure, but when it happened they seemed totally unprepared
They also threw Moyes under the bus and Evra and Ferdinand have both since admitted that the First XI clique were never going to adjust to his new methods

City need to avoid the obvious pitfalls, but with or without Pep, my biggest concern is that apart from Gvardiol replacing Laporte the last two summer transfer windows have been distinctly underwhelming and whilst making a huge profit our squad looks weaker

Gundogan returning might still prove to be a masterstroke but for the moment it seems to be mirroring United's mistake with Ronaldo

The next Summer Transfer Window will be critical but unless he commits for the next 2-3 years, the new signings will have to be made with Pep's replacement in mind.
No Ronaldo was a major disruption in the changing room, Gundo won't be like that if he's not playing. Different personality's. One's a twat the other is a good lad.

But you could go through those 5 and say:

KDB - has hardly featured since 22/23 and has already been replaced by Foden (current form notwithstanding)

Gundo - well past his best but we didn't have him last year and won the league.

Walker - Rico is 19 and already better. He's already been replaced.

Stones and Kova - can be great squad players for the next few years.

I honestly think if we add a top class CM in Janaury we'll be laughing. After that it's a case of identifying the next generation and phasing out the likes of KDB, Bernardo and Stones who'll mostly be rotation options from next year.

Rico is outstanding but he definitely isn’t a RB as he isn’t quick enough for the modern game in that position.

To say he’s better than Walker is just silly.

Average Pep extension, feels like a long time to me.
The rest of this season and another 2 is a very long time
Fair relative to Pep. But relative to the context of a 'project' that prople are talking about, 2 years is not a squad overhaul job. Really not that much of a difference to 1 year.

It is all reactionary anyway. Oh he needs to make a decision, oh we shouldnt let him stay one year he needs to go, oh we need rid of players that have won us stuff for best part of a decade.

What, did he not need to make any decisions before the Bournemouth game? Were there no players needing replaced over the next few years before the Bournemouth game? Chill people, it is all happening as it should in the background. Won't stop us losing games, won't make us win every single game.
