Plenty evidence of burnout but to be fair I think that is the consequence of the last few seasons and the numbers of games. The spine of the team have spent a lot of years with the man and I would hope that they are beyond the 'he's too intense' barrier. I actually think he is not going to renew. Sure hope I'm wrong.

It's hard not to combine our form on the pitch with whether Pep renews or not. But I don't think the two are linked. We've got a lot of injuries, we've got a lot of tired players and we need this break. I don't think the team are doing anything wrong or failing to implement what Pep wants. I think there's still a lot of hunger and desire.

He hasn't renewed yet - we'd have heard and the club would probably like to share some positivity with all the talk of a crisis.

But I don't believe he's decided to leave. He's said repeatedly he'll decide with the club and that everyone is relaxed and comfortable and the decision will be in everyone's interests.

I think, as a result of that perspective, he'll stay for another year. Walker, De Bruyne and Gundogan have been key features of success under Pep. All three are possibly at the end of their careers. The CWC ends a few weeks before the new season. That makes it very difficult for a new manager to come in and hit the ground running. It would be beneficial for someone to come in the following summer when there's a bit more time to get their feet under the table - even with a World Cup.

I disagree for what it is worth.

We have been on a shoogly peg since the Rodri injury really, but the way we have found the resilience to win or draw games when it mattered looked like the hunger and desire is very much there.

Even Bournemouth, I think was more of an unlucky loss than a 'problem'. It happens. Sporting though, and Brighton second half, they were more worrying, and showed the fatigue and injuries catching up.

But that can all change, and it can happen to other teams too at some point. Doesn't mean there is burnout or the manager and team are no longer responding to each other.

On that basis, I think he will stay.

I don't know where this 'one year' has really come from. Probably because it rounds it off to a 10, and that seems easy for people to grasp, for some reason.

I'd be happy with it myself, but I personally expect it to be two years he extends for. Can even hold out hope for three.

My gut is saying he'll sign for 3 years. Might be worms though

I get the feeling he’s not going to renew too. My opinion, for what it’s worth, is that obviously we’ve got a big squad overhaul required, change in DoF with Viana coming in, hopefully the end of the 115, and consequently Pep will think the time is right to hand the baton over to a new guy to shape a squad. Viana starting in Jan gives him opportunity to discuss the Pep replacement with Txiki, and make sure we get correct man in for the job.

What’s things?

I just read in the news that a Spanish director of football has decided to leave the club at the end of this season. And I think it was also announced that a Portuguese person will replace him. So that it appears that something could indeed be happening in the background.

If Viana starts in January then I don’t see the issue if Pep signs for year extension. Players will leave and need replacing, good players will be good players under Pep or the next man in. As long as we start the inevitable rebuild soon then great.

KDB, Kompany, Sterling, Aguero, Silva, Otamendi and Fernandinho were here when Pep arrived and all played huge parts in our league wins in 17/8 and 18/19. Between Ederson, Ake, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol, Rodri, Foden, Bobb, Savinho, Doku and Haaland there’s a really strong base to start from. We really just need more legs and creativity in midfield and another forward. A full back or two would be useful but hasn’t been our style in recent seasons!

It’s interesting seeing how many people have an issue with a one year extension.

Issue probably the wrong word, I think you keep Pep for as long as possible but I do also recognise some of the concerns people have raised.

There definitely is an element of kicking the can down the road but it’ll do for now
