Pep's contract situation

I honestly don't think they are related. Just my own take.
Hmmm - I think they have to be - if only for the optics.

Get the book thrown at us - and he leaves, and his statements about staying more than ever and getting Dikov back look hollow.
Stay and he's got a hell of a task on, when he could still walk into a top job anywhere.
Get exonerated and he may leave as there are no leaving us in the lurch pressures to stay. Alternatively he could stay to have a clear run at things and to celebrate.

Anyone's guess.

I get what you are saying, but I tend not to base my opinion on optics.

I would find it easier to believe that Pep has already decided he wants to leave and has had enough, and the club know it. But that we can't meaningfully get anyone to follow till the charges are resolved. And that he is leaving it open for a one year extension to cover any delays in that to be here for the club till that is concluded. Than any of the above, for example. IF we were trying to link the two.

Not that that is what I think either, for the record.

I think he wants to and will stay, regardless of the outcome, and it is just a case of doing it at the right time and when he and the club are comfortable that it is sustainable and secure.

I take both him and Khaldoon at their word quite literally on that one.

I can understand that Pep is undecided, at least publicly, but part of me thinks he sees another challenge to get replacements for Kyle, Kev etc. and see the kids get established. In some ways he can’t quit if we don’t win a trophy this season, without losing face. He hasn’t changed or lost it, but we have a lot of unfit and injured defensive players and no cover for Haaland. Small squad costing us.
Yes. Enjoying the work and bringing things he has already started into some sort of a fruition is always a very important factor. As well as the circumstances under which a manager (especially of his stature) leaves the club. And it is in respect to those things that the nature of his relations with the club/backroom/owners come into play. Things such as:

Has he been very happy with how the club has supported him in the transfer market or are there major issues in that regard?
Does he feel confident that the club's transfer support will allow him to secure a generational transition?
How do his people at the club backroom feel about that?

Etc.

Questions I don't know about.

say a bit more about that mate. Why would it not be sustainable and secure now? I can understand why he would delay a 'I'm leaving' announcement but a renewal confirmation can only give stability and confidence surely?

I think he will leave. He has done enough imo. He might need a refresh after all these years.

Which in a way would put some relevance on the outcome I suppose.
