Pep's Press Conferences - Watford (A) Post Match (Page 129)

Jesus H Christ; you have to be joking. I can picture it now;
"So, Pep; is it Muffin or Barm?"
or
"Pep; are you a front door or back door man? And what are your views about slapping people on a train?"
or
"Pep; dual usernames. Are you for or against them?"
or
"Pep; I got a parking ticket outside the CFA yesterday. Do I pay it, or tell them to shove it up their arse?"
"Pep, someone once let off a banger in the away end and it frightened my son. Have City fans no morals?"

I stopped watching them months ago.
I think they are getting better again now as Pep has decided to not answer questions desigend to bait him about Aguero referees etc. I found his discussion on his build ups really interesting in this presser.

People worldwide seems to prefer reading about Aguero leaving or not, and that kinda shite rather than an actual football question. And we all know it's about the clicks i.e. money.

If a journo asks an actual football question Pep will start to explain for 15min. and only the few Cityfans worldwide will read it. Journo will be replaced and the next stupid will enter the mediaroom.

Btw the British footiepress is better nor worse than the Spanish one.

You've talked me into it!

It's what sells papers.

The standard of journalism in this country is horrendous, but the standard of person buying them really isn't much better.

He went off on a tandem a bit, talking about tactics/pressing etc. Now that's football talk. Not what the sun says about Aguero leaving.

I haven't bought a newspaper for over 10 years, but the people who do buy them are just as culpable. I play football with a lad who is still taken in by the newspapers, at 50 plus years old. It really does baffle me.

Oh and some great responses from Pep. That first one about Gabriel fell on deaf ears, the miserable fucks. He tries to break the ice a bit but is met with a chorus of silence.

He did a couple after that a got better response and lightened the mood a bit after he'd bollocked the first bird to ask a question.

He's got a great personality. He pulls you in and then throws you out. Comes across humble, with humility, but you know he's the only boss in the room.

Think I read somewhere, either Cruyff or Guardiola being told that footballers must always be humble and never forget the journalists are just doing their job too. But the Media can be so t***ish

The best part was him talking about the plan when the keeper has the ball either in open play or a goal kick. If the wingers press, they must pass to the full backs, if the number 10 presses then a midfielder is free. If many players push high to press, then so often we see a long, low ball that Aguero drops deep to collect either on his foot or chest.

Don't like the way media were trying to trip him up by commenting on the (poor) refeering today.

Interestingly, pre match he was unusually open and admitted these three next games would define the season

He was prompted a bit by the questioner, but it would've been disingenuous to play down the importance of this week. If we'd have gone out of the FA Cup today, and the Champions League on Wednesday, it would be a huge blow.
