Peps Targets

neither are better than Kompany so buying one as a back up, maybe, but both would suggest that we are going to replace Kompany - not a chance on this Id hope

No way we will go for stones AND Laporte!! That report makes it sound like they would be our starting pair as well!! Lol

One of Laporte or Stones makes sense - both 21 (Laporte is one day older), versatile and good on the ball. Laporte could play alongside Kompany or at left-back while Stones could play holding midfield as well as centre-back and right-back.

we need to buy a centre forward to help sergio....

Nacho is a good player (and will get better) but we cant just have these two and we need to get rid of Bony as he just doesn't fit in

We don't need a squad overhaul, I think Pep will bring in 2 or 3 world-class players to improve us in defense and central midfield.

BUY: Koke, Bernat, Stones
SELL: Yaya, Bony, Demichelis, Fernando and Kolarov
PROMOTE: Denayer and Manu Garcia

We need a left back more than a centre back Dax?
I know. But I'd rather get a total stud at a position of minor need, than an ok player, at a position of great need. It's my outside the box belief on these issues.

Bernat is a good LB, I think Larpote is potentially a great CB. So if a choice of only one of the 2, I take the potential WC guy, and wait on the LB. Until a potential great vone emerges.

Don't get me wrong I am a Bernat fan, in spite of Baston80's opinion that he is average. I think he will be good for City, but Laporte has the potential to be WC and by the way, he can play LB competently too.

Gundogan
Pogba
Laporte

Those are my 3 priority if I was our front office. All 3 are close to WC or already there. Once you settle those 3, you can look for good players to add to the squad like Bernat, Xhaka, Dane, Jesus E.t.c

The goal is to target the next core:

In 2 seasona you want Aguero, Sterling, DeBryune, Gundogan, Pogba, Laporte as your spine.

But that's just my thinking.

OK but it's not one or the other, I think we could get both. If you've seen Bernat play, you'll know how good he is, only reason he doesn't usually start for Bayern is that he plays at the same club as the world's best player in that position, Alaba.

We also don't need to buy two new central midfielders - we need one to replace Yaya. Fernandinho has been one of our best players this season, but in a team with Silva, Aguero etc he gets no attention doing a huge job in the holding midfield role, keeps possession well and puts in vital interceptions and tackles. Pogba is a huge talent but there's a reason Barcelona don't want him - he's not a better passer than their midfield three. Knowing Guardiola's possession-based philosophy, Koke would make a lot more sense.

We should also give Manu Garcia more first-team opportunities and Stones can also play in central defensive midfield (as can Delph in a rotational role).

Unfortunately Kun is the player that would start week in and week out unless he's not fit or being rested. I couldn't think of a good forward that would be content just sitting on the bench most days. We'd be better off trying to find a utility player that could be played in multiple position (which includes center forward). Griezmann and Reus comes to mind.

Does Raheem not fit that requirement? Or even nacho?

Sterling and Kelechi do fit that requirement, but I was responding to the poster that mentioned we need a center forward and I said rather than getting a center forward - a utility player might be better. But yeah Sterling and Kelechi do fit that.

All good mate. Certainly going to be an exciting summer!

I've been speaking to a mate of mine and normally he's a bit wayward with his city comments but this time he may be a bit more accurate now that I've had a think about things.
Hart
De marcos Kompany Otamendi Alex Sandro
fernadinho
gundogan De bruyne
Costa Aguero Sterling
Yeah I've changed my mind on Sterling after his goal at the weekend

Anyone else who got funny in the pants after seeing Pep talking to Kimmich after the Dortmund game? After the lad pockets Reus he still thrives for perfection. Next season cannot come fast enough

I thought Pep was congratulating after a fantastic performance? Did I miss something?
