Peps Targets

Whilst it's pretty obvious sk3ptical doesn't actually have anything concrete to back up his assertions I do tend to agree with his general sentiments. Bayern, having lost their manager to City, will be loathed to sell us a player as well, and certainly one such as Alaba. As far as I'm aware histract situation isn't going to help us either as he's got a fair while left on it. Bayern are in a strong position here and I don't see them backing down and allowing Guardiola to leave and take one of their best young players with him.
Pretty much this. Bayern aren't going to sell us one of the best players in the world in his position. They probably wouldn't sell us a fucking turd sandwich after taking Pep.

True enouh. We better sign a left back thogh. Rodriguez, or maybe bayern would sell bernat?

I don't think we'd have a problem selling Götze or Bernat to you guys, but I doubt they are very high on Pep's wish list haha. Bernat offers zilch going forward and passes the ball backwards 99% of the time, I don't know why his name is mentioned so often around here.

Ricardo Rodriguez I find to be overrated to be honest. His setpiece abiltiy makes him look spectacular in highlights clips and his weaknesses less visible. He's not quick for a fullback, not good defensively and his technical abiltiy is not top notch. Then again it's difficult to find decent fullbacks these days so he might be one of the better options.

What seems to be stalling Alaba's contract extension is his preference to play in midfield in the future. He's always said he wants to play in the center. I don't know whether Bayern is going to fulfill his wish - as mentioned, good fullbacks are hard to come by, much more so than midfielders.

Except for switching Laporte for Stones, getting him 10 million cheaper and starying Delph atvleft back and keeping the money on Alaba. The above is my dream team.

Hart
Delph
Denayer
Laporte(30)
Kompany
Gundogan(25)
Pogba(75)
Isco(40)
DeBryune
Sterling
Aguero.

Bench
GK
Clichy
Sagna
Otamendi
Dihno
Silva
Dembele(25)
Kelechi

I'm open minded to the idea....but what makes you think Delph is the answer to our left back problems? i'm talking both ability and injury record.

What's your concern regarding Denayer?
That he's not a RB. He might be able to do a job there, but he's nowhere near good enough to be our first choice RB. I'd have no objection to him being considered an option there, especially as a defensive option if needed, but he's not nearly good enough going forwards for a first choice fullback in an attacking side. Currently our fullbacks are a real weak point going forwards imo, but I can't see any way in which switching to Denayer and Delph is anything but a downgrade.

Injury record wise, probably not.

But ability wise, he is like Danny Rose, Alaba, Bernat and a few other good midfielders who have been converted to Fullbacks. Including our own Pablo Zabaleta. I think the transition will be seamless. But he'd have to stay healthy. I agree his record on that so far has been disappointing. :(

His reliability is the main factor against success imo.

I don't think you've heard of players having an actual say in where they decide to actually end up ;)

That's the real battle, especially when we also have to pay up the remainder of deals.
I mean no disrespect whatsoever but money talks mate. Just Saw something about Yaya wanting to stay in the PL, but thinking about his manager he'll Quickly change his mind :-)

we need 2 new CB not 1 and this is not an overreaction on kompany injury...it s very clear that he is injury prone and can t stay fit for a longer period of time without getting injured...just like i said about silva wont surprised me to see vinny out ...hope not but longer will this get on and on and on the club may say enough is enough

I thought all these players we've been linked with was just nonsense but from the evidence of that 45mins.......its looking increasingly like we might need half of them!

I agree. We can cut loose the likes of Demichelis, Kolarov, Navas, Clichy, Sagna, caballero, one of Mangala or Otomendi and maybe even Yaya and bring in 4-5 ready made first team starters, promote some youth and the squad will be capable of challenging on all fronts.

Agree, I might even push it and say at least 6. Our current squad ain't getting any younger and the league is getting more competitive.

Indeed.

As you say, Dybala not available, too much money and still needs to be playing every week, especially in a new league.

Aguero is the pathway to success and also the hurdle to long-term progression. That applies in the immediacy and longer term.

It's why I think Pep will pull something out of the hat, but I think Vardy has shown enough to earn a shot, can run the channels, and would know his place in the grander scheme?

If we are talking somebody who fits the criteria of playing across all front three positions, we could always make a cheeky £90m bid for Bale...a decent bench option ;)

I don't think it has to be another forward, if we got a wideman comfortable on either side who can finish would allow De Bruyne to play as a false 9 with wide forwards either side.

De Bruyne is no false 9. A false 9 really has to be able to do dribblings in tight spaces and do them in the middle of the park.

Another poor season...

Yes we could be better in the league, much better. It will be interesting to see what Pep does.

I think he will look to buy top quality starters who play the way he wants to play.
