Yes mate, they do. Its quite hard to pull off a goal like that. Thats the problem with PES now. That ^^^ is a basic goal.

Tell me where the defender could of made the tackle? He doesnt get anywhere near me. All game I was knocked off the ball with a variety of tackles, that was the only time I got free.

You play the new PES demo and watch the AI struggle to animate 2 players in your direction while the rest stand lifeless.

Whats wrong with a few stepovers?? Robbie does them in his own half for us?

As for him not trying he is leaning on my player trying to push him off the ball. Im pressing L2 to push back and it worked.

Thats the thing though scotty, with FIFA you can do a stepover if you know how to do it and its fluid, there are no jerky animations, its instant. Or you can play the game with simple passing, longball etc...

With PES it feels awkward, the players jolt when performing a simple pass. You dont get players trailing legs in PES trying to stop an opposition player or the ball from going on target. With Xavi earlier I even managed to perform a Skrtel impression and Kung Fu kick Essien in the spine resulting in him being poleaxed to the floor and subbed off. I got booked as well. i was only going for the ball. I wish I had uploaded it. Thats why FIFA has strolled miles ahead of PES now. PES is arcade, but not even fun.

pes has warn off on me but i just carnt go back to fifa ...........fifa 99 was the one for me.

PES 6 was great and a lot of fun, but things have moved on from then. FIFA 09 is the greatest football game ever made IMO. And that's coming from someone who's been loyal to PES for quite some time. If I remember correctly FIFA 06-07 seemed to be just shooting and scoring (pretty much like PES has become since), I never really got into FIFA 08 but I didn't like the way it looked at all, the bright graphics seemed to almost induce a headache. Along came FIFA 09 and got it absolutely right. Yes, there are flaws but they're minor in comparison to PES 08-09.

There's no point in rivalry between fans of the two games, but IMO FIFA 09 was without a doubt muuch more value for money than PES 09 was, and FIFA 10 looks brilliant whilst, judging from the demo, PES 2010 actually seems like a step back.

Moving from PES to FIFA takes a little while to get used to, but it's without a doubt worth it IMO. One should of course wait until both games are released to make the verdict, but personally there's no waay I'm going back now.

But for all it's flaws PES 09 was still a fun game, but for me FIFA wins in almost every department. Plus there's the fact that you're able to play the game online without throwing your console out the window in frustration...

Only real plus for PES is the CL mode, which really does look brilliant.

Having now played both demos, I think for the second year running i'll be getting FIFA again. As like many people I always was a PES man up until last year.
There have been slight improvements on PES this year however nothing spectacular. It feels really plain and boring and doesn't make me want to play it again an again like it used to. A shame really as the potential is there to compete with FIFA.
The gameplay is just bland. The passing is predictable, and very basic. Defending is frustrating, and I find myself always scoring the same type of goal. (which used to be the case with FIFA, hence why I never played FIFA)
I think PES would struggle to compete with 'this is football' nowadays.

I agree with Svennis on the easyness factor. I bought pes09 about 6 weeks ago and on top player or whatever the highest level and there was no learning curve. It was just as simple as it was 5 years ago. No AI improvement. Same moves lead to goals. Cut in from the left with Robinho and arrow a shot into the far corner. It was embarassing compared to Fifa. Much like Svennis i was a PES player. It was only last year that i opted for Fifa on the back of playing the demo and enjoying it.

I can't believe how the tables have turned.

I agree, if that's the case, you'll be blown away with Fifa10, i know i am.
