Peter Crouch

ok Peter Crouch is sh*t in the air but has good feet....David Villa has great feet, so does Torres and Eto and Kaka. Who would you prefer to see at the club?

Crouch is a decent player for a team aiming to finish 6th-10th....Any higher than that and you need quality finishers.

If City do go for Crouch, that would speak volumes about their ambition...or lack of it

I can't believe that some of you lot are that daft to:
A) Not see that Crouch would be an excellent addition to the squad, particularly if we are in Europe. His international record proves that foreign defences struggle against him.
B) Expect that the club would make him our marquee signing of the summer. Do you honestly think Hughes would buy the lad and then say "that's the strikers sorted for next year then."?

I love when people point out his international record.

Sadly, I don't think there are many top European teams with defenders from:

Jamaica
Trinidad and Tobago
Andorra
Macedonia
Estonia

but if there were, he'd be great!

Portsmouth is the right level for him; I don't think any team with significantly higher aspirations than them is going to be trying to sign him, and that includes us.

I like him, adds abit of variation.

Completely agree! think he would do a good job for us! plus he is a City fan !

we play ONE forward with two wingers

Bojinov, Caicedo, Bellamy, Sturridge, Crouch

list your prefered choice for this position from 1-5 and that will answer why its a totally pointless signing..

1. Bojinov
2. Bellamy
3. Sturridge
4. Crouch
5. Caicedo

and thats harsh on Caicedo as i rate him!

If anything it will highlight the fact hes no better (just different) than what we already have.....if we going to buy a striker lets spend 20-30m on someone.....after all, torres was 20m.....there must be others around better than crouch......hell go for huntalaar, hes not getting a game at Real.

He did alright at Liverpool and he'd give us something different. Good squad player.

Your points are valid, Astuteboy even if you were selective with the teams he scored against! However, I doubt that we would be playing against many "top European teams" should we qualify for the Europa. I would go as far to suggest that the quality of the defenders we struggled against in the earlier rounds this season compares well against the defenders he has scored against at international level.
With the prospect of umpteen additional games up for grabs, I thin Crouch we be an ideal squad member.

Would he improve us?
Yep.

therefore it will be a good signing

Considering we are going after 5-6 new players we won't be buying superstars for all the new signings

Agreed. I'll be happy with half a dozen signings of that calibre and I think we'd compete 5/6th and be looking up. Personally I'd take another batch like MH has already signed and maybe one big name to keep the medja happy.
