PFA Team of the Year

No real surprise inclusions or exclusions but three spurs players is perhaps excessive.

I would have selected a Burnley defender instead of Vertonghen and Sterling over Aguero.

Never understand the comments about how many or how few there are from certain teams. You can have a great team and a great season without anybody standing out as being the best in that position.

Burnley are a perfect example of that, a lot of calls for one of their centre backs to be included predominantly as recognition for their season. That's not the award though, it's the best player in each position (or at least it should be and not just as many forwards as possible then fill the gaps) and whilst both Burnley centre backs have had good seasons neither have been that level of good.

Similarly, people are questioning 3 spurs players in a team that's at best reached par but vertonghen and kane both fully merit their inclusion. Eriksen is the only suspect choice in that team for me, fernandinho has been the best central midfielder in the league by far and deserves as much recognition as KDB and Silva.

Yes he does but then there would be too many City players.

The TOTY is always contentious and every fan think's it should have had more players from their team in it.

That being said, Fernandinho, Sterling and Sane should be in it! :)

Think Aguero got the sympathy vote. Not that I care. He should have at least 2 appearances already.

I doubt rag and Chelsea fans would be arguing overly much about getting one player in each tbh. The sane ones anyway. Interested to hear what @Vialli98 thinks.

Pretty decent.

Front 3 of top three league scorers.

Alonso is a question mark but I can't really think of many who've played regularly at lb.

Wouldn't be a bad starting line up eh.

I wouldn’t object to there being three spurs players in the team if I believed they had all been one of the best players in their respective positions this season. I don’t believe Vertonghen has been one of the standout centre backs this season, though.

Robertson's actually only made 20 league starts all season, and I'd hazard a guess that only about 12 of those came before the voting had been done, so I can see why he didn't get it.

Alonso is a very lucky boy to get in, even Chelsea fans don't think he deserves it. Would've made more sense to use a back three so that one more midfielder could fit in. I'd have gone Sané over Alonso (in midfield) and Fernandinho over Eriksen.

Probably right although I think they try and avoid one team absolutely dominating it even though it is justified. Especially when that team is City. Alonso has nipped in for his goal threat this season, popped up a lot first half when it mattered for this kind of voting. He has been shite since though.

Myself and Chelsea fans I speak to don't even think Alonso should be in the team. He was ok in 2017, but he's downright awful since the turn of the year. The left back position has been pretty poor in the PL this season, so if it was up to me, i'd just put a back 3 there, and add an extra midfielder instead. No Chelsea player should be in the TOTY.
