I know it’s very early days and he hasn’t kicked a ball in anger for City yet, but I do think that one day he’ll break Alan Oates appearance record for the club.

To think after all the worldwide scouting the club has done to find the worlds best young talent that the best of all has been here the whole time :))

Maybe,as long as he keeps eating his porridge ;-)

Didn't Iheanacho win the best player of the u17 WC?

Yes, but he got his chances at City. He is in an era where the manager required more then just goals and thus he ended up surplus to requirements.

I must admit I did expect to be hearing more about him, thought he would be doing well at Leicester.

Is he purely a number 10 in the Silva mode or could he fit into the Fernandinho role? That seems to be the next pivotal position that's going to require a long term successor.

So many talented kids are never heard of again, whilst its exciting the prospect of a local lad playing in our first XI, it would be wrong to put too much expectation on him right now. The question will be for the club whether they see it better for his development to stay in and around the club and training with the first team or just playing regularly out on loan?
I noticed that lad that Madrid bought a while ago, Martin Odegaard was lined up for Utrecht yesterday. He was supposed to be the next big thing.

Odegaard is currently on loan and playing excellently at Herenveen. The lad is still only 18.

Very good question.
Perhaps the posters who have watched him for the past 5 yrs can offer a more informed opinion on this point, but i have been most imprsssed when watching Foden in a deeper ,base of central midfield role, where he has looked extremely comfortable at taking the ball from anyone on his side and immediately moving the ball onto a ream matd in space with the minimum fuss and maximum precision.ive never seen this in a player so young, altho other posters have said Wilshire at arsenal also had this degree of composure when he first burst onto the scene. The additional aspect to this first time passing ability is that absolutely anybody in the same team as Foden can ....and should, expect a pass from him ,due to the uncsnny knack he has of being aware of where all his team mates are on the pitch, without apparently looking...a wondeful skill to have, which of course automaticaaly means you have a real confidence in your own ability to control a ball instantly, whatever angle of play you recieve it.

The second characteristic of his deep central ,midfield role is that, should no obvious passing option present itself,he is more than capable of weighing this up in an instance, and automatically decides to make ground, with the ball seemingly tied to his feet, from central midfield to a more advanced posistion, to cause damage further upfield, and at the same time encouraging forward players ahead of him to find new space,in an attacking position to recv the ball from Foden.
He reminds me of a young Liam Brady ,rather than Wishire,i have decided, for the latter displayed a more rugged robust side to his game ,from day one, rather than the ultimate composed midfield artist that Foden resembles.
The fact that he showedc real promise in a wider role for England is of course another string to the artists bow.

Nah, taking Foden away from goal to sit deep in a pivot role would be awful. He's a proper goalscorer that will score 15+ a year, easy. That is absolutely invaluable and you'd be mad to move him away from that. Pep will make him one of the free 8s I think.

I've also never seen him once play in a deep role for the EDS/u16s and u18s so not sure what you're basing that on tbh mate!

Personally I think his control and movement with the ball are more effective when closer to goal.
