There's the temptation to get carried away with this lad...... And why the bloody hell shouldn't we. I can't remember seeing a central midfielder look so good at 18. He's sublime.

I don't mean to be harsh on Gundogan, but Phil is better than him now. He needs to be getting league minutes, and if Gundo has to miss out for that to happen then so be it.

What I like about him more and more is that he's got the pace and trickery to run the channels or drift wide and get to the by line past a defender when the opportunity and space presents itself.

He played on the wing a fair bit for England u17s and although thats obviously not his position, he can take up those positions if the opportunity arises - which it naturally does in our 433 because the two 8's have a lot of freedom to roam.

Deserves more than a few token minutes against Southampton. If De Bruyne’s injury is worse than feared than Foden should be really starting one of the next two games, unless we’re expecting the two Silva’s to both play three games in a week.

Should just be ahead of Gundogan now, he's there on merit and he's the future of our midfield. Still behind Kev and the Silva's, but he should be our 4th central midfielder.

We have to start giving the lad more game time. Would absolutely love him to start the next prem game regardless of opposition. He is ready.

Wayyyyyyy too early to be saying that

He’s not wrong though is he. Foden is light years ahead of any of those players mentioned in terms of ability, the rest is up to him.
Only Gazza would come close imo, but he was a looney tune...Phil isn’t!

There was a moment about 80 minutes in where he received the ball around the half way line inside channel, with his back to goal and two Fulham players pressing him from either side. He immediately turned to face their end and then with a drop of the shoulder he changed directions, taking both out of the game and giving himself a free run into the Fulham half. It was brilliant and says a lot more about his game intelligence and appreciation of space than any pass would.

Hes starting to bring Silva esc moves into is game like squaring defenders up before he plays the pass etc. Great to see he's learning every day.
