Yes reports ranged from £150k to £200k per week. I agree that a couple of years at those figures is fantastic money but Phil and his peole don’t seem to see it that way. Maybe his market value is more than that.

Phil excluded himself from the USA tour by not taking the vaccine. Everyone knew their immigration rules. Sponsors will have been disappointed. I don’t really care who does or doesn’t take the jabs but people should be available to play if they can (even in preseason).
Yes contract extensions can be very tricky. Especially when outside influencers get involved. If every player wanted what Jack & Kdb get we'd be in a right pickle. I suppose it depends on how much the player values money and how much he values being financially secure and playing for one of the top clubs in the premier league. Jadon Sancho is a good example. He left for first team football & got more money. Is he any happier now? Maybe, maybe not. This is a big if but im sure Madrid would snap City's hand off if they could get Phil for £150 million and pay him £300,000 a week. But the question to consider is this. Would Phil be any happier? More money equals more problems. Remember them daft pictures of him leaving Mcdonalds or the co-op or somewhere in the papers with his girlfriend. Pah!!! That'd be small fry compared to the Madrid press & fans. He wouldnt get a minute of privacy. Plus they all speak Spanish. I'm not Phil but I'd advise him to question whoever is pushing him to hold out for more than £200,000 per week at this stage of his still youthfull adult life. They will probably make buckets of cash from him earning more via their percentages but they can hide away and count their money. Phil will be the one under more pressure. Raheem is another similar example. Sure he's doing ok at Chelsea but does Phil want ok or to be a winner with the team he loves and a fanbase who absolutely adore him.

His trusted solicitor and adviser died which held things up for a bit but his new reps are obviously a bit more aggressive in terms of their demands
He hasn’t helped himself tbh with his Covid stupidity affecting his availability to train and also some of his off field scrapes
Confident it will be sorted eventually but he is still a bit of a daft young lad from Adswood and he needs good advice and good people around him
Those last 9 words are the difference between success and failure.
Thought he was from Bramhall.

Edgeley/Adswood originally
Just bought a big gaff out in Cheshire
Ah right. Not far from where i was brought up in Heaton Mersey...just the other side of the pyramid. Hope he chooses his mates carefully and shows no fear in telling any wrong uns to sling their hook.

Is the Griffin still a big City pub? Used to run buses to the games back in the day, my brother lives up that way
Think it’s a Holts house nowadays?

Yeah it was the last time i was in. I dont drink any more so its kind of not really worth hanging around pubs. Its always been Holts. An acquired taste. I can remember decades ago drinking in their after games and waiting for the pink to be delivered so i could read up on the latest.

Does he realise his ongoing hesitation to sign a new deal is costing him far more than he will ever negotiate upwards?

There has been a contract on the table for months, if not years, now.

If he wants more money sure he could get it pretty much anywhere else to to be fair. He also seems a bit of a bell but hope he stays long term because his potential is almost limitless with his natural talent.

Yeah big City pub, I remember my old man taking me in there when we lived on the Morningside Estate, Parrs Wood. Live down south now but I’ve been a number of times since and it’s not changed much.

At least a year
I’m not entirely certain the people around him nowadays are as protective and beneficent as his previous advisers
