Phil Foden to leave England camp

He is a real talented player, could be the next Colin Bell for us, and that's the point for me...I really don't care for the national team of England or any other....

Nobody is saying it will tarnish him for the rest of his career is it?

But he's fucked up and will he will need to cop the initial outrage on the chin - no point treating him like a baby.

Yeah he has fucked up and deserves a telling off, I'm not having that this automatically makes him some of the things he's being labelled as on here.

Breaking the boundaries set up for their own safety was pathetic (considering their newly found status in the squad and on the cusp of a new season).

The suspected cheating on his Mrs, tw@ttish thing to do on the face of it but each and every couple have their own set ups so we shouldn't necessarily judge (who knows maybe they are 'flexible' in that department?). Regardless, the public nature of this will not be impressing anyone I imagine.

However, a quote from your decent post above has struck a chord with me;

'He'll come out the other end like Terry, like Rooney et al.'

Whilst you are probably correct to compare him to those individuals, I think I had higher hopes for the lad on and off the pitch and he has seemingly fallen to their comparison by the age of 20.

I wanted him to be better.

Do I expect too much from our players? Probably.

Should I just drop the bar so low that nobody can fall below that benchmark?
F#ck no - I can still remember how fuming I was that we were in advanced negotiations to sign either of those tw@ts.

I would have had an enormous problem if we had signed Rooney - I still hope for more from Foden............

I agree that we should hope for better from Foden but I would also say that so far his misdeeds don't come close to theirs. Hopefully (and this is still a very likely outcome) he learns from this, bucks up and there's no more controversies from him.

Our Academy has at least given young lads a great start and over 100 have fulfilled careers in the game. However has it ever produced a real star in the last 30 years spent 24 hours now thinking about this since Phil’s misdemeanours.
In my view the closest we came was
Paul Lake - but denied thru injury
Michael Johnson - injury and booze not sure in which order
Possibly a self proclaimed Superman
Phil Foden

Agree with your points about SWP's maturity. Not only a great player but a brilliant human being.

I don't think our academy has produced a 'real star' in the past few decades up until now.

Some very good players:

SWP
Lake
Richards
Trippier
Mee
Ireland
Sturridge
(I'm sure there will be some good nominees I've missed)

But non come close (in terms of talent) to Foden or Sancho. Sancho is gone, but Foden genuinely has the ability to become one of City/England's greatest ever players. He just needs to keep his head down and work hard.

He'll get over this fuck up - just like Beckham, Rooney, Terry, Ronaldo, Henry etc etc etc all did before him.

Yeah he has fucked up and deserves a telling off, I'm not having that this automatically makes him some of the things he's being labelled as on here.
The only two people who should be telling him off is Gareth Southgate and his missus.

Everyone else should keep their nose out!
