Philippe Sandler is set to join RSC Anderlecht. The 22-year-old wants to go to Belgium to be reunited with Vincent Kompany. Sandler will join Anderlecht on Monday on a one-year loan deal. [@FOXSportsnl]

This should tell us whether he has enough about him, to be a serious contender for a spot at City.

I don't agree with comments from earlier in the thread, that Garcia looked way ahead of him. Garcia looked higher quality on the ball ( he looks potentially higher quality than Stones & Laporte too) but he also made mistakes & had to have babysitters on crosses. Sandler was much stronger in that part of the game as well as being good on the ball.

But he is older & needs games or will go backwards.

If he learns from Vinny & can compete v older players, then we probably have another full squad member. If he can't, then sell.

Just to add: he will have a coach playing alongside, who knows way more about defending than Pep does, so he can tell us.

.Maybe, but Pep will ask people like Vinny, about aspects of defending, not just order him.
Pep coaches, he doesn't order anyone. Whilst Vinnie will undoubtedly be able to teach Phillipe a great deal about the attributes to be a great central defender it is very unlikely that he will have Peps knowledge and experience of coaching defensive tactics within a given team structure. He may in time, but not yet.

He won't be coaching him how to play in Pep's team, he'll be teaching him how to actually be a cb, in his team, a job which he has been doing for years & Pep has never done.
