It was a classic day except for the result! We took 12 thousand fans that day and many were in fancy dress.

and the crowd was 24,000. I was an astronaut that day. The motorway journey was just a case of "look at that" all the way to stoke. Love these pics.

Makes me sick that I wasn't old enough to witness these days. But never bother, I was there for Wigan 1999, wembley 1999, rovers 2000, platt lane end 2002 (vs united), wembley 2011 (twice), vs united in April, and qpr in may. Don't care if I've missed the standing kippax, ive seen the Maine road days, and the bad worst bad days city will see for a long time!

were coventry the first to have an all seater stadium does anyone know?

and if so, what year?

First English club to have an all-seater stadium not sure what year though.

City (amongst others) ripped a load of them out, and they went back to standing for a while

-- Sat Jan 26, 2013 6:27 am --

Great examples of the casual look in the foreground there. Is that the City seats you are sat in?

Yes in City seats, with the rest in the cage on far side!

You can tell. Looks like you're in the middle of the Mayne Line boys there. That's the era when plain round neck jumpers, little City pin badges and hair getting longer, sometimes permed at the back, was in. Dungarees and bennetton jumpers were big around this time too.

Brilliant pic. I've got another from that game somewhere showing everyone going mad after the goal. Give me a minute.

flicked at the front, short at the sides and permed at the back + nike trainers, dunga's and paisley shirts

I remember seeing haircuts at games getting a photo and taking it to old biddies hairdresser in Coleraine asking for one, at that time it was only womens or mens in Coleraine, only bloke in there on a Saturday morning getting a perm lol

I had a perm for a year or two as well, permed all over and quite long, mine was. I can actually remember having grey farah trousers, trainers and a yellow Sergio tacchini cardigan at the time and thinking I looked the business. I remember getting chased all round bury once by some older lads who took a shine to my cardigan after a trip to Loofes to stock up on clobber.

I scanned the photos from the cov game mentioned above but they are on my work PC as PDF files. Will try to sort it Monday.

Fuck me, DD. Farah slacks and Sergio Taccini cardies! I remember when we beat Charlton 5-1 and the pitch after the game was swarming with casuals. Not a short back and sides in view!
