I was there that night and if I remember correctly the copper used the truncheon and cracked open some ones head.

Good Lord, that was the night I became a City fan and embarked on a lifetime of glory-hunting. My mum and dad were United season ticket holders but my mum couldn't go so my dad took me. IIRC Francis Burns did a vicious assault on Colin Bell who had to be carried off which showed me what a spiteful shower of shit that lot were and so they remain to this day.

There are some incredible pictures on that site of City fans rioting, invading the pitch and attacking the Luton players after that game which I never knew even existed. There are 30 or 40 of them. Totally amazing.
