Thats a great white sticky tape banner from the bin dippers there, must of took all of ten minutes to make and at least 4 brain cells....!

Exactly what i thought... When i go to matches and see the amazing flags that some of our lads make, and then you see some shite like that, it makes me laugh! - First of all as you rightly mentioned liverpool looks like downtown Baghdad - derelict and shite, and secondly the banner is fucking wank!

Wonder if anyone has any from when we demolished Oldham or Notts County
I honestly can't remember people taking camera's to football back in the day before mobile phones, or the ones with cameras on at least. Different now as a camera phone is as common as fuck, but back in the day I think it would have been a bit strange to pull out a camera and take pictures of each other on the piss at the footie.
anyone know "dave from shrewsbury" always took his camera to every away game in the 80s. spoke to him at the c/s v chelsea (birmingham). told me he has thousands of photos. not sure if he comes on here . but he's your man.

-- Fri Jan 25, 2013 7:32 pm --

'kin'ell. Stood in that cage when Sammy McIlroy scored August circa 1985 (?). West Midlands Police nicked anyone they could and locked them up in those caravan cells.

I'm sad to say that it was also the 'Get the Paki off the pitch' game [ref was the (Asian) Butt iirc]. Although my mates were apologising for the behaviour of fellow blues, that's as sad and hurt as I've ever been as a City fan.

Anyway, it's a great thread and I'm sure that stirs up memories and emotions for all of us. CTID

Great examples of the casual look in the foreground there. Is that the City seats you are sat in?
Bit before I started following City that match mate. My first away was at Highfield Road, but it was later on than that, last season of the Barclays League or first season of the Prem, can't remember.
That barrier wasn't painted black at the top it was fukin vandal grease as i found out when Mclroy scored ruined all my clothes

We must have been no more than one thousand in that cage. We'd all been on the Kippax for the 5-1 promo in May, got mashed all Summer and were lovin' our return 'to division one [since then]'. We didn't know it but Madchester was just around the corner and then the world went mental.

Here's another pic from Bournemouth away, late 80's

PMSL at this one. The way the inflatables got more and more random. 'i might not have a banana but I do have a rubber dinghy.'

Funny, funny memories. The Frankensteins fighting at West Brom were a highlight of that era.

Although the crowd surfacing 'Paddling Pool' [had it's own song, FFS] was the existential zenith.

Maybe a bit of a cheat classing Wembley as an ''away'' ground, but whatever. Here's one of you lot at the cup final, taken by yours truly from my position in a Club Wembley seat at the Stoke end. You looked awesome that day!
