Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang is a poor footballer but for his finishing.

I'd take a poor footballer who could deliver 80 goals in 140 appearances like Aubameyang has done for Dortmund over the last 3 seasons. I'd also argue that in order to score 39 times in 46 games last season you need to have much more to your game than just "finishing".

Tis is he thing, he isnt a poor footballer. Does being a good footballer mean being good on the ball? If so, he is very good. If it means spraying balls over the pitch, then no, but neither is kun. Aubameyag has been played right on the shoulder this year, which has meant he hasnt had chance to be creativee, yet he is still in double figures for assists. And pep makes players better technically. Fact. Not all of them, but lots.

Most of his assists are pretty simple square balls at the end of a counter-attack to be fair - but we won't be buying him for his creativity.

We have heaps of creativity in the squad. As of today, Silva, Nasri, Yaya, Gundogan, De Bruyne are all creative players. Sterling has it in his locker occasionally as well.

What we don't have is goalscorers. Only Kev, Nacho and Aguero are likely to get more than 15 a season. And if we're replacing Yaya with Gundogan - we're losing goals there.

We need another 30 goal a season player to take the pressure off Aguero and so we aren't massively effected by his injuries - and that's exactly what Aubameyang is. He's not the best passer, creator, dribbler - but he will score every kind of goal possible, and lots of them.

That's exactly what the squad is lacking.
