I was making a specific point that I couldn’t see Andrew Neil getting a job like presenting GMB, and having watching his generally excellent output on tv over the last decade or so, I’m not sure it would be a good fit for him, or that he’d want it.

Piers has mass appeal, it's primarily a fun type of show, not as serious as Andrew would make it.

I agree. Andrew Neil is much too good a journalist to be considered to present a lowbrow tabloid TV programme or as you say want to do that.
As for the three l mentioned l was pointing out that ITV do not use top grade journalists to do holiday cover for Morgan. They do not even get Susannah Reid to take the main seat. They just get a middle aged man from the ITV stable to present the froth. Cutting edge journalists need not apply.
I was referring to Richard Madeley who was not entirely cleared of shop lifting despite his claims. So with him, a comedy actor and a Jeremy Kyle as stand ins, serious news seriously presented is not a priority.
