Pink Floyd albums..

I wouldn't say I'm a massive Pink Floyd fan, but I am a fan(in my top 20 bands). But I have to say The Wall and Dark side of the moon are two of the greatest albums of all time. Watched the film with Bob Geldof religiously every day for about 18 months when I was about 17.

"The beginning of the end", or to describe it more accurately, "Their creative peak which lasted for 8 years and included their four best albums."
Well ok although the acrimony in the band was there for all, during the recording of Animals, and the huge Animals tour which followed. Gilmore only has one writing credit on that LP and in fact only sang on Dogs. During the tour Waters famously spat in a fans face at a gig in Montreal.

The Wall was effectively the end of Pink Floyd consisting of Waters Gilmore Wright and Mason. By the time the Wall tour started Rick Wright had been fired by Waters from Pink Floyd. He did appear as a session musician playing the concert tour.

The Final Cut was basically a Roger Waters solo album, with zero writting credit by Mason or Gilmore although he did sing on the track Not Now John.

Then followed the Pink Floyd divorce case which went through the courts which Waters lost and Gilmore won.

I was fortuante I saw the Waters/Gilmore/Wright/Mason Pink Floyd live in 1974, 1977, and 1980. I never bothered with the Gilmore led Pink Floyd.

But those are still their best albums, despite all of that.

Well a lot of people would agree with you. For me AMLOR is a Gilmore solo album and The Division Bell whilst significantly better is still not great. For me the track High Hopes is superb and there's a couple of others that are ok.

Meddle and Echoes in particular, was what got me into Floyd back in 71. So my favourites are Meddle, DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and the Wall.

I believe Nick Mason receives no royalties at all from the Final Cut, with Wright out of the band, Gilmore only on one track. As good as that album might be I personally think it's nearer to a Waters solo album than a Pink Floyd album.

Just my opinion and its great having a debate about it:-)

Animals is my all time favourite then The Wall, then Dark side and Piper.

The Final Cut? Should have been swept up
Off the studio floor and binned.
