Pink Floyd albums..

Meddle is a seriously great work, I find with Floyd albums it’s a mood thing so it’s hard to pick the best. The one o would choose for a desert island would be Dark Side

Which one is Pink? A question they were asked in 1973, by a record label, I believe....lol

I think the story goes that Syd Barrett had an album and there were tracks by Pink Anderson and Floyd Council next to each other. And from gazing at the album sleeve he came up with Pink Floyd…. Whatever Syd was on that day probably played a part.

Piper at the gates of dawn .

Syd was a real genius and ahead of the game

Funny how Roger moaned that syd didn’t want to do singles or be on top of the pops and wanted to employee a saxophone player and girl singers..

Then went on to do all of those things himself.

Well a lot of people would agree with you. For me AMLOR is a Gilmore solo album and The Division Bell whilst significantly better is still not great. For me the track High Hopes is superb and there's a couple of others that are ok.

Meddle and Echoes in particular, was what got me into Floyd back in 71. So my favourites are Meddle, DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and the Wall.

I believe Nick Mason receives no royalties at all from the Final Cut, with Wright out of the band, Gilmore only on one track. As good as that album might be I personally think it's nearer to a Waters solo album than a Pink Floyd album.

Just my opinion and its great having a debate about it:-)
For me, there is no Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, so I don't consider AMLOR or The Division Bell to be Pink Floyd. That and the fact that they're rubbish (save for a few tracks I guess). The fact that Gilmour got his wife the write the lyrics would be hilarious if they weren't so awful.

When I listen to The Division Bell, it sounds to me like they have rewritten old Floyd songs. For example, Lost For Words is a rewrite of Wish You Were Here.

Anyway, I consider their peak to be Animals, Wish You Were Here, The Wall and The Final Cut. I love others like Dark Side Of The Moon but I'm bored of Money now and I actually think it spoils the album a bit for me. Special mention For Obscured By Clouds - an underrated one for me. I love tracks like The Gold It's In The...

My best mate loves Zeppelin and said after Bonham died he'd never go to watch them if they played without him.

I did the same in 1988 when Floyd played
