Pink Floyd albums..

Wish you were here. Shine on you crazy diamond parts 1-5 is my favourite song of all time. Notable mentions for Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall and Animals. The story behind shooting the album cover for Animals is brilliant.

Wembley Empre Pool (i.e. Arena) 1974. I think it was previously available in the Immersion version.

Just the band, a saxophonist and two backing singers.

One of a few cds my wife bought me for my birthday although had a little wait as it was only released on Friday. Not played it yet but will probably do so later today.
Can report the live album is good. A pretty faithful reproduction of the original but a few extended bits. Nice to have but not essential.

Saw them in 88 I think it was at maine road and think they were due to play 2 nights, but only ended up doing the one. Few years later went away working and we only had one tape between us - DSOTM . Played it non stop and never listened to it since nearly 40 years later. Had lot of mates who have had Wish You Were Here/ Shine on you crazy diamond as their funeral songs. Remember one of my mates painting the wall cover on the front of his house.

From the original tour?
No.

The piece called "Eclipse A Piece For Assorted Lunatics ie Darkside Of The Moon" was first performed live as an entire piece, on Pink Floyds World Tour from January 1972 until December 1972.

This version of DSOTM is readily available on many many bootlegs, and some of those recordings are fantastic in sound quality with a band that were still a working band and nowhere near super stardom.

They also did a short North American Tour in 1973, after the album was released in 1973. On this tour they opened the 1st set with older pieces like Echoes plus others. The second set was the studio version of the album but with heavy improvisation from Gilmore especially in Any Colour You Like would could last 10 minutes plus.

In 1974 the Darkside Of The Moon performed at Wembley Empire Pool is exactly the same as the 1973 tour, although that tour they introduced the giant circular screen to project animation, and films onto during their gigs.

1975 they became a super group and the begining of the end started with Animals.

I personally wish they'd have released the Detroit gig from 1973. But hey in a million years that may surface somewhere...lol
