Does anyone know which was the best ? I cant make my mind up..

Dark side of the moon
Wish U were here
Atom heart mother

Never been able to assess the best amongst the first 2.

But, well, plenty of the others are terrific too,

Oh yeah, Obscured by clouds has got to be up there too.

First band where I got given an album (the wall - first album I got on CD too) loved it and bought all their albums. was only a kid and think I got an album every few weeks or so but played every one to death, knew all the songs and didnt think they'd wrote a bad one. lol kids eh

so whats ya fav songs off your favorite floyd albums then? in no particular order........

Meddle - Echoes
DSOTM - Us and them
WYWH - Shine on obviously but welcome to the machine is pretty amazing
Wall - One of my turns / Hey you (cant decide)
OBC - Childhoods end
TFC - the final cut

Love waters solo stuff too

The Final Cut is probably my most played Floyd album and I love the track - The Gunners Dream, it really puts you in that plane as it goes down, the words are just poetic IMO.

Floating down through the clouds
Memories come rushing up to meet me now.
But in the space between the heavens
and the corner of some foreign field
I had a dream.

Good-bye macs,
Good-bye Ma.
After the service when you're walking slowly to the car
And the silver in her hair shines in the cold November air
You hear the tolling bell
And touch the silk in your lapel
And as the tear drops rise to meet the comfort of the band
You take her frail hand
And hold on to the dream.
A place to stay
"Oi! A real one ..."
Enough to eat
Somewhere old heroes shuffle safely down the street
Where you can speak out loud
About your doubts and fears
And what's more no-one ever disappears
You never hear their standard issue kicking in your door.
You can relax on both sides of the tracks
And maniacs don't blow holes in bandsmen by remote control
And everyone has recourse to the law
And no-one kills the children anymore.

Night after night
Going round and round my brain
His dream is driving me insane.
In the corner of some foreign field
The gunner sleeps tonight.
What's done is done.
We cannot just write off his final scene.
Take heed of the dream.
Take heed.

Piper At The gates of dawn is also 'up there' for me, Astronome Domine is one of THE best tracks ever by anyone IMO (pure Syd Barret genius)

Lime and limpid green
a second scene,
A fight between the blue
you once knew.
Floating down the sound resounds
Around the icy waters underground
Jupiter and Saturn
Oberon Miranda and Titania
Neptune Titan
Stars can frighten...you

Blinding signs flap flicker flicker flicker
Blam pow pow
Stairway scare Dan Dare,who's there?

Lime and limpid green
The sound surrounds the icy waters under
Lime and limpid green
The sound surrounds the icy waters
Underground

Im really a 'words' fan

Its off his solos album Radio Kaos. Great song.

DSoTM for me each and every day, what a fucking awesome album that is.

Went on that Sky Anytime last weekend when I was bored rigid, and noticed that on Sky Arts HD, Dave Gilmore was on in a live set from one of the theatres in london. It was only shot about 4 or 5 years ago, and it was equally as awesome as DSoTM. He played some classic Pink Floyd stuff as well as some of his own and it was all done with just him, a few backing singers and his electric guitar. Legend if ever there was one.
