PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Just can't see this happening at all unfortunately. It has gone to far.
The PL would look to be an absolute bunch of total clowns.
I'm totally convinced the 'independent' panel will find us guilty
as charged and the penalties will be issued. It will eventually wind up
in the High Court where our appeal will be upheld. This, I believe is
their plan. Another three years of hate, suspicion and our totally trashed
reputation. We eventually get off, but at what cost? The PL walk away and say
'we did our best' (which they will have done) nothing more we can do. We are
then forever known as cheats, corrupt and a dirty oil club. Mission accomplished.
This cannot be right. There is no way we can appeal the decision to the high court. We can only appeal to HC in the event of unfairness or fault in the procedure.
I doubt the panel will find us guilty, though I don’t think this panel will be as neutral as CAS.

The arses of all these clubs should be twitching. We have all the evidence they were lobbying EUFA to suspend or kick us out of the champions league. Now we have this shitstorm, probably driven by the same tossers. If we are found not guilty we must have a great case to sue them for damage to our reputation and brand.

From a mate (I am only a messenger!):

"Spoke with an MP mate who I won't say (there are some good ones BTW). The Dept of Culture, Media and Sport (think current sports minister is Lucy Fraser) are incandescent with the PL's antics and the push for the independent regulator is being accelerated. Furthermore there are lots of shit stick stories on the horizon about the PL, backhanders etc, going to come out in due course inc monopoly corruption in regards to tv revenues and access. Bottom line is they are supporters of City as a catalyst for change".

It's interesting from the point of view that independent regulation could come in before our hearing takes place. If that happens, our charges could well be reviewed and even dropped.
This is the aspect of the matter which has been aired on this forum but nowhere else. I think most would be very sceptical indeed about your assertion that many in Parliament and even in government are supporters of City (not perhaps in a sporting sense) because it might be assumed that the break even rule, balancing the books and "living within your means" aspect of FFP would appeal to our present government. But City are quite different from any other club, with the possible exception of Newcastle, in that they are run by people who operate on the world stage in both the diplomatic and economic spheres. The owner is HRH Sheikh Mansour. We are not dealing with local butchers, bakers or candlestick makers or dodgy second hand TV salesmen. Honesty and integrity really matter and as PB points out the PL could be in the process of "fucking up" major deals with an important friend and ally at a time when the UK needs investment desperately. The pressure must be on the PL to stop this nonsense and to make a full retraction with an unequivocal apology.

The result must also be a change in the nature of the regulatory body. If the PL survives it must be the end of "influence" exercised by the cartel. If City do have friends in government circles we have a great chance to ensure that the regulatory body is genuinely independent and one which ends this FFP nonsense so that the investment which football needs badly can be made. Cost control yes, depending on how it works: corruption, NO!

And a knighthood for Pep after his heroic effort yesterday.

Taking my blue-tinted spectacles off, the more I think about it, the more absurd the notion that the club has systemically and substantially cooked the books becomes.

It would involve a deception on a par with Bernie Madoff, but to involve a much greater conspiracy, in terms of numbers involved. It would also involve incompetence from auditors and banks on a scale similar to the SEC and Bear Stearns in the Madoff case. Logic says the likelihood of all that occurring to be vanishingly small. The serious charges simply make no sense, if logic is applied. There may be a couple of technical breaches, but that would be true of any club.

Conspiracies are notoriously hard to keep going over a sustained period. The bigger, the harder. People fall out, or become aggrieved, or something unforeseeable occurs to move the pieces on the board. Something always happens eventually. The notion this size of conspiracy went on for the period alleged simply doesn’t hold any water.

Something evidential would have come out by now.
So true. If there’s two in a conspiracy that’s one too many.

im 50 pages behind ,so sorry if this has already been said.

we will get found guilty of one of the charges , the non compliance charge , same as uefa ,they get a nice 10m fine from us,we get "let off" and the hordes of fuckwits get to say " see they got fined ,they are guilty"

we will carry on winning stuff, the fuckwit hordes will call us cheats still, and we wont give a fuck
Is that like Liverpool paying us £1m but insisting they are NOT guilty of hacking our scouting database?

Was the £1m therefore a gift?

I’m confused.

An alleged City fan on RedCafe using the pseudonym of padr 81 is a disgrace to the club. A complete psychophant. See attached. Unbelievable.
The word 'feck' gives him away... like Talkshite, get someone pretending to be a blue to make us look worse... sadly they're not as clever as they think!

Well put mate, I've come to the same conclusion.

As others have said, the PL would also need to prove that partner companies and third parties were complicit. Without access to their books as well, that seems impossible to prove? It's not a criminal trial, it's a kangaroo court.

I'm sure our auditors and partners will be watching this closely, for potential reputational damage. Which, I think will be enough for any punishment to be minimal and nowhere near the sensationalist relegation headlines we've been seeing.

The problem, as Pep raised yesterday is that the reputational damage to City is already done. The PL have already tainted our trophies in the eyes of a lot of people and reading between the lines, with what is going on politically and the timing of all this, it would seem that was their intention.
