PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Nah - a salary cap would absolutely not work...
There are ways clubs will make up the shortfall for players... and how will it be implemented? Suddenly tell all teams how much they can pay players? A lot of players won't like that for a kick off - their agents will cause trouble... and going forward, knowing of a salary cap, decent players will only go to top clubs - it would eventually make things less fair than they are now!

UEFA, the FA et al, talk about 'fairness' but what they actually want is a return to the old G14 status quo! They don't want a level playing field, where a different team could win the league every year... they don't want relatively small clubs being successful, they want Unitedd, Liverpool and Arsenal to share the spoils in the PL... Barca, Real, Inter & AC Milan, Bayern Munich etc. to win everything and fill their coffers with cash!

The problem really is that people were sold the myth that football was fair before 2003/2008.

Football has never been fair - it wasn’t fair when we had a salary cap 100 years ago, and it’s not fair under FFP and it wasn’t fair in between.

If you want to make it fair you have to fundamentally change the structure of the sport in the way that American sports are built from the ground up to promote parity.

When Messi was at Barca his wages were directly linked to the sponsors, £600 million they could not afford to pay him or sell him, a wage cap is a threat to the nouveaux rich clubs, but there will be 1,000s more in Spain like Messi just not as high profile.

Players will strike if cap introduced

I quite like the notion that the Rag's and the media keep raising that SM has spent more than £1.5 billion on us and it has resulted in the league being destroyed, however the idea of the Rags being purchased for £6 billion, plus £1 billion to renovate the stadium and training facilities and a further £1 billion committed to improving the squad is perfectly fine.

I keep reminding the rags that for all their arguments about it the Glazers not putting money into the club, the club belongs to the Glazers, it is their property, they can do whatever they want to do with it, they could have taken twice that amount if they wanted to.

And to think this all went to shit over a drunen Scottish bully wanting some horse spunk.

That’s the argument that keeps getting lost, it will cost £8.5b to get the Rags to our level, £7b more than it cost us.

Is it even lawful? The PFA would probably say it's not.
