PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

There's no doubt the integrity of all the sponsorships by Abu Dhabi based companies will be scrutinised yet again. Of course if our owner was American and the sponsors were American companies they would never be questioned. There is a disgusting streak of Arabic xenophobia that at some point will be called out, hopefully when the UKGOV takes over as the football regulator.

At CAS, HHSM provided a written affidavit in which he explicitly stated he had never authorised any third party payments to sponsors. So are the PL prepared to accuse the vice president and deputy prime minister of the UAE of lying. The CEO and Chairman of Ethihad Airways stated under oath that the sponsorship of MCFC had been an outstanding commercial success for the airline and that it exceeded all their expectations. So are the PL going to accuse him of lying ? and claim the sponsorship was not fair market value ?.

City always seem to be described as Abu Dhabi in the press, a kind of negative connotation, never the UAE probably due to its links to Arsenal , fa Cup etc as if they are totally unconnected things.

Still get a feeling of dread clicking on to this thread.

The hypocrisy of the cartel and the borderline racism towards our owners grates. I veer from not giving a damn to what will happen to dreading the outcome.

Sooner it’s resolved the better.
The bolded point is so very true.

Obviously both the Premier League and ourselves don't want any new publicity from this to distract from our ongoing competitions at present, but you'd have to think there will be some significant movements over the summer.

Yep, definitely an intentional editorial policy to besmirch our owners and club. Also the only substantive allegation they make is that Ethihad paid an artificially high sponsorship of City. That just does not stand up to any scrutiny,
In July 2022, Etihad announced a record breaking 1st half profitability of 296 million dollars. So the sponsorship is doing wonders for them.

Real Madrid loses court case ref mubadala sponsorship deal

Interesting that isn’t it considering Madrids PR were releasing rumours regarding City players all last week. It wouldn't surprise me if this Dortmund reporter has been told what to say regarding Bellingham.

No wonder Real bear a grudge, the CEO of Mubadala is Khaldoon..

Kick racism out of football and take a knee and all that before games though

This isn't strictly on topic but I think it's worth a mention. Last night I watched an excellent podcast with Viv Anderson. Part of it discussed the situation of the points deduction when he was at Middlesbrough. If you remember they refused to play a game away at Blackburn because of illness and were deducted three points. This ultimately led to them being relegated.

Anderson said they rang the fa and explained the situation and were assured if they didn't play they would just get a fine. They got absolute reassurance that would be the case and that's why they went to court when it wasn't. Steve Gibson hired the top and most expensive man in the field. After three days he told them there was no way he could win the case as the fa operated by their own set of rules. He added if it was in a court of law he would have wiped the floor with them but not operating by these rules. Anderson was adamant they had been told there would be no points deduction, if there had been they would have played all the fringe players. The outcome would probably have been the same but at least they went down trying.

I mention this just as a reminder that we can have the best legal brains in the business but if their rules stitch us up it will make no difference unless there is some kind of legal recourse.
Steve Gibson ain’t no Sheikh Mansour.
