PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Serie A docked points from Juventus with games remaining.

The Premier League made a statement and allowed it to get to the end of the season.

UEFA did something and little happened.

Italian football does appear stronger, whilst the PL and UEFA ruin their own brands.

The Premier League have been going back and forth to the high court to get this moved along. They are also having to appoint and independent panel to deliver a decision, this shows they aren’t too confident in marking their own homework. What a mess this has turned into and we are no where near getting it towards some form of verdict and conclusion.

If the Premier league can put in legislation with the government to stop the Super League happening and if the other big six clubs don’t get the verdict they want. surely they can turn round and say the Premier League isn’t fit for purpose letting City winning their competition numerous times whilst this hangs over the club. They can then go and take their bat and ball off to start the super league.

The Premier League is not fit for purpose now. Any organisation that has a regulator foisted on them against their will is clearly dysfunctional.

The Premier League has had four years to bring charges and punish us and yet he we are, with talk of an independent panel with as yet no head, no members, no terms of reference, no power, no timescale, no modus operandi, in short zero, zilch, nada.

But we're at fault, we should have nothing to fear if we have nothing to hide! City should just open the books so a bunch of bad faith actors can go fishing.

You couldn't make this up.

Let them go, if that happens. The super league will break the bonds of clubs to their locality and will fail.

I’d say Masters knows he’s on borrowed time. The wheels are coming off, pressure to resolve the charges is piling on and the PL clearly haven’t any compelling evidence and City seemingly not providing anything else.
I wonder if they have repeated the UEFA blunder of accusing and sanctioning City with no evidence. Masters is finished if that’s the case.

Yep, sums it up well.

Is that book worth reading btw? I’ve had it on my Goodreads shelf for ages but keep reading other things ahead of it.

I read a lot of social science non fiction but some of them veer too closely into cheesy self help territory.

I can help you with cheesy self help: Cheshire every time.

I have some sympathy with Masters. He didn't start this whole process and he was clearly brought in to bring it to a satisfactory (to the redshirts) outcome. He couldn't really stop the investigation but I suspect pretty quickly he was told it wouldn't get very far.

Where I don't have any sympathy is with his part in the 115 charges which could have been whittled down and presented completely differently, for example as the one or two actual issues that may be open to discussion. He wasn't strong enough to close this thing whilst, at the same time, managing expectations and that will be the end of him eventually.
