These charges were announced 4 months ago, The Premier League doesn’t have confidence to enforce its own rule book so is appointing a judiciary panel to see the evidence and reach a verdict. They’ve sat on this so called evidence for over 3 years whilst City have won 3 premier league trophies in that time.
They can’t investigate and are not confident in reaching a verdict themselves in a timely manner. So they have to get someone else in to do it, are they not too confident of the case they have?
The recent news that City have pushed back on the charges and that it will take 2 to 4 years shows what a farce this all is. This doesn’t make the Premier League fit for purpose as a sporting body. If the time scales do go out to 4 years, the club and the Premier League will be arguing over accounts and incidents that will be nearly 20 years old. It’s not a witch hunt and we are all paranoid aren’t we?
