PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Still believe what I wrote in this thread back in February: no relegation and no title stripping. But point deduction and a transfer ban for a year or so. It won't be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, not as big as our rivals want anyway.

The outcome is not only about merely legal rules and procedures. The wider context matters. Hope I'm being pessimistic, but I think there will be some sanctions and they'll be neither too big nor too small.
Is this some sort of "best case scenario" compromise you've thought of?

Because that effectively is admitting "hey, we must have cheated in some capacity, so let's hope they're lenient with us!" mentality. I don't believe we have done anything wrong at all, aside from the non-compliance, but that's what i'd have expected City to do having been accused of being fraudulent.

Even if we're fined £100,000 and given a 1 point penalty that would be completely unacceptable because that's the PL finding us guilty of something in which we've done nothing wrong. I don't want compromises or hope of a lenient sentence, I want a full aquittal and apology from the PL.

The 'PL is looking for a wayout' scenario that many posters think is happening isn't a goer in my view.

The charges have been handed over to an independent panel and they will examine them all to establish guilt or not. What they won't be doing is any horse trading such as you accept this one and we'll drop these. They also won't be having rival clubs telling them what they want to happen.

I am sure this has most likely been covered at some point in these nearly 3000 pages but please can someone with more intelligence in the matter tell me if we are deemed not guilty, would we then be able to sue the PL for defamation and potential loss of earnings, the public declaration of the 115 charges hasn't been a great thing for reputation.

Hope we are cleared completely but don't think it will happen. And not because we are guilty. Interpretation of rules and actions will play a key role, and this is where the wider context will be essential.

The outcome won't have big winners: severe punishing or no punishing at all. I'd say it's pretty obvious. And again, not because we are objectively guilty of something fraudulent.

Fans of other teams will scream corruption even if we get cleared. Don't care about them. Envy is a woman.

All day this.

No.
