PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Still believe what I wrote in this thread back in February: no relegation and no title stripping. But point deduction and a transfer ban for a year or so. It won't be a big deal in the grand scheme of things, not as big as our rivals want anyway.

The outcome is not only about merely legal rules and procedures. The wider context matters. Hope I'm being pessimistic, but I think there will be some sanctions and they'll be neither too big nor too small.

So you think City will be found guilty of fraud? That's what the charges relate to? I don't personally as if they had evidence surely they would have substantiated their claims by now. Yet four years later and we've heard nothing more, why would that be. City has denied all allegations and basically said put up or shut up. The silence is deafening. My guess is that the PL are looking for a way out to save face, with City accepting some minor punishment, but City have said no, we're not accepting anything.

There's also a third possibility - that the independent regulator takes up post before our case gets to an independent commission and upon re-examining our case it is decided that no further action should be taken. What the world of football thickies don't realise when they screech 'what about City????' is that our case is far more complex, allegedly took place over a longer period, and contains accusations so severe that it is impossible to imagine that it could have been concluded before the cut-and-dry case of Everton. The King's Speech made it very clear that the regulator is coming sooner rather than later, and no amount of Jamie Carragher libelling City as procrastinators will expedite the case.

Can you imagine the fallout if the independent commission adjudged that we had no case to answer, and were scathing in the behaviour of the red shirts to manipulate the Premier League to their own ends?!

Historically our business plan has been attacked by uefa and pl by applying new and targeted rules that they felt we must break.
The last straw they felt would be the115 charges as at the time we seemed to be wilting as a team. Instead of dealing a death blow it stimulated us all with the results we all enjoyed.

The pl are now left with a war of their choosing that they need to prove.
Obviously the media believe them so nothing new there and the strategy of a final attack has been counter productive.

I am left wondering how much power the red shirts now want to have within pl, by that I mean will they still control action or will they tell Mr Masters to sort his own mess out.

All conjecture of course but in the meantime let's enjoy City being the best team in football.

When you look at Deloitte's analysis of City's accounts, you see 50% comes from sponsorship. This is pretty average for top clubs. The rest is match day, TV, prize money and transfers. So, as they have got more TV money and more prize money from being successful, it goes hand in hand that sponsorship will increase.

What it seems to me is that journalists will bang on about the 115 charges (some of which were changed after they were levied... the EPL charged City with mowing the pitch in the original charges) with no evidence as to why they were breached. All the press can do is speculate. It feels like they are preparing for a situation, as with the UEFA charges, that City will prove themselves to be innocent but the press will sing "oh but lawyers and loopholes".

It’s just the media and the red shirts. Look on Twitter now and you’ll only see Arsenal, United and Liverpool fans crying for us to be relegated. They know it’s the final chance to get rid of us.

This outcome is not really likely, as to reach the standards whereby points deductions are appropriate, they will almost certainly have to land some of the heavier charges, and as those charges in no uncertain terms suggest a highly coordinated and complex long-term fraudulent enterprise you would potentially be looking at some of City’s execs getting their collars felt and a push to disbar SM from ownership of the club…

There are probably only really 3 outcomes on the table:

1. City found guilty of the heaviest charges - catastrophic fallout
2. City found guilty of ‘only’ some light charges such as non-cooperation - likely chunky fine
3. City cleared on all counts.
