PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I have always thought that it was interesting and very suspicious that when Liverpool failed Uefa ffp in 2014/14 , they suddenly submitted further information showing that nearly £50m of those losses was spent on a stadium that was never built . First off that's a lot of money to spend with nothing to show, not even a peice of land was bought. And secondly why wasn't this huge ammount showing in the initial accounts submitted. Was this ever investigated further by the UEFA or the PL.

Yeah but back in those days it was lose and ur done, these days u could concievably lose 3 games in the group stages and another 3 in the knockouts and still make the final, i mean we didnt lose a game so wed have been fine in both eras ;)

Weren’t the games over 2 legs? So you could lose a game every round right up to the final and still win the European Cup, couldn’t you?

Agree with Stefan feeling he was dealing with an intellectual pygmy.
But, he must have known that he would, at best, be misquoted.
Can now understand why City have little interaction with the mainstream media...

A excellent podcast and well worth a watch. My takeaway from it is the total incompetence of the Premier league, they seem hell bent on destroying the most popular league in the world over imo restrictive financial regulations. Relegation this season will be a complete nonsense.

I think what seems clear to win the PL would have to prove wrong doing on an epic scale by by many people and entities which in turn could lead to a Police Fraud investigation and a court case.

Total incompetence is the correct phrase - they have tried to play Jenga whilst blindfold and wearing boxing gloves - one slip and the whole lot topples. They could face counter suits from entities and individuals which would cost them a fortune then if they even imposed some sort of sanction a Police investigation were it to happen could find there is no case to answer meanings any sanction they imposed could be appealed and incur yet more costs.

They just got carried away - 115 charges - pricks - I am sure they are looking for the best way to extricate themselves from the whole thing but saving face and hoping that leaving the smell of shit around us is enough

Pretty much how I think it is too. I suspect even now the pl are trying to tread a thin line between convincing the govt they don't need independent regulation, keeping the usual suspects happy that they are 'doing something' about city, and finding a face saving way out. I also think they will be keen to drop all charges on what can be termed a technicality to achieve all of the above and leave us stinking of shit.
