PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

There must surely be a full investigation as to how these charges came to be made and why if, no WHEN, it is all cleared
For me, the big thing is the failure of the PL to properly assess the facts. They could easily have gathered all their evidence and then briefed a KC to give a full written opinion. It looks like they jumped into issuing charges too quickly. If they were under pressure from the Redshirts, the KC’s opinion would have sufficed, if not to satisfy them, at least to shut them up.
They could also have undertaken not to prosecute and held serious discussions with the club about the club‘s actions and lessons for the future.
What they have done is not professional nor normal business practice.
(All subject to a caveat that I am guessing about the PL‘s action and knowledge.)

I don't think there has been a change in script. Even on the video where he says he doesn't want to talk about 115, he goes on to say pretty much what he has always said.

The club will know a potential record-breaking title win will prompt a massive amount of media discussion on the competitiveness of the league, which can quite easily be used a vehicle to discuss the charges / lack of progress etc etc.

This would be a fourth title on the bounce, another year of no outcome to the charges and at the end of a season which will be remembered as the season of points deductions.

All the ingredients are there for the discourse to ratchet up a few levels. I think the club know this and have tried to be pro-active.

If these letters have been sent, it may suggest confidence in the commission process, but I don’t think it’s specifically about the charges per se - it’s about the next few weeks.

(FWIW I’m sceptical Goldbridge has been sent a letter. People are seeing what they want to see)

Yes that’s fair comment. Depends what the club’s endgame is, I suppose. I expect they would be content if the noises just stopped as of now, rather than cancelling what’s been said previously. The club will likely have no intention to litigate in relation to any defamation, unless forced to, as the optics of a claim against this fraud wouldn’t look great for the club, and so they are managing their approach accordingly. So undermining any subsequent claim won’t be a principal consideration for the club, as they will only pursue that as a last resort, and they may very well believe he can be brought to heel without resorting to that.

There has to be some explanation for his change in script - and some correspondence/communication from the club seems the most likely to me, but I’m all ears as to alternatives!
It might not be a letter but a message from City saying that if you continue with this then we will act. Too many of these idiots have gone quiet or changed their collective tunes for this not to have happened.

Goldbridge or whatever his name is, is such an egotistical **** that i don't doubt for one second he'd imply hes important enough to have received a letter when in reality the club don't care about the likes of him. He's a character playing a part, no different to borat or keith lemon.

It will be a formal LBA, easily the best way to get the message home.

Whenever i get into any sort of debate with one of these clowns I just ask them one question.

If the breaches we are accused of get dismissed, would they accept the decision and our innocence?

If they so no, then I just say, then there is no point discussing it any further.
Excellent
