PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It's just a throw away line in a recent article. Not even worth considering:

"A verdict is expected before the end of the year and while everybody in football is eagerly awaiting the outcome one way or the other, it has not been much of a factor at all in the events of the past few days, from Begiristain’s exit to Guardiola’s future, whatever he decides."

Translates as the hearing will be finished by then and we (at The Athletic) have no understanding of the process after that. Once again, sports reporters think it's like a football match - the whistle goes and you know the result. Poor stuff.
"I think we'll get an answer before the end of the year, and if not, it'll likely be next year"

Perhaps I should change careers?

Surely they could have come to a "verdict" before the end of this year? They're not, after all, claiming that anyone outside of a very small circle will know the result either way until well into next year. That lets them publish multiple articles meanwhile that basically say nothing.

It's just waffle. A verdict that isn't announced (even if the panel have finished the hearing and their deliberations before the end of the year) doesn't mean anything until the parties have been informed and the judgment published.

If it had been, The Athletic wouldn't about it, or if they did it would be a ten page exclusive not a single line in a report about nothing in particular. The Athletic knows nothing.
Don’t for one minute think The Athletic have got an inside scoop, just wouldn’t surprise me if the verdict was pretty quick was what I meant.
