PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The thing is, that article and the views it represent are rooted in deep prejudice, intolerance and down right racism.

The core of the sentiment is based on the view that the sole purpose of middle eastern investment is to wash the image the west has of these 'dirty, horrible and untrustworthy brown Arabs".

It fails to recognise that the diminishing use of oil around the world will ultimately mean that many Arab states and private companies need to diversify to other profitable revenue streams, and the PL and CL are certainly profitable if done right (which city do).

What the article also fails to recognise (as most other media outlets and fans do) is that you only need look closer to home (as in the western world) for evidence of true sports washing over many many decades.

England and America have been using sports for years (Football's coming home...) to promote our condescending views that we are somehow more righteous, holy and decent than all the other plebs in the world.

However, we should never forget the atrocities and heanous activies our nations have been involved in recent and current history (just a few high level examples below).

The red shirt led mafia are both deluded and corrupt to the core if they truly believe that all middle eastern ownership is fundamentally wrong and they are right.

USA:

Crimes against native Americans
Philippines
Haiti
World War II
Korean War
Vietnam War
Gulf War
War on Terror
Mass shootings
Abortion rights
Hate crimes on immigrants

UK:

World War I
World War II
The British Empire
South Africa
Malaya
Kenya
The Troubles in Ireland
War on Terror
Brexit related hate crimes
Uncontrollable knife crime

Not forgetting Winston Churchill starved 4 million Indians to death by turning away grain ships and creating a famine.

Indeed "sports washing", has been going on for decades. In fact it's being going on for centuries.

Although I take your point about no nation being whiter than white, it's an astonishing stretch of the imagination to classify World War II as an atrocity committed by the UK and US ???
Agreed, but the allies were guilty of some actions breaching human rights and the codes of war.

That story is a piece of propaganda.
1. British merchant ships there had no air cover and were being picked off by the Japanese like sitting ducks.
2. There was massive corruption in Bengal in which the rich and powerful kept all the food for themselves. There was an adequate, though meagre, supply. The corrupt created the Churchill myth to cover themselves.
The Irish potato famine exhibited some of the same characteristics. Ireland remained a net exporter of food at the time.

I'm afraid it is fact rather than propaganda. Indians know what happened and it is seldom taught in English history. It definitely happened.

It is complicated but the much repeated idea that Churchill caused the famine does not stand up. Some British policies were very poor, eg the ‘denial policy’ In 1943, the supply of grain was only 5% less than the annual average and much greater than the supply in 1941, when there was no famine. Exports to Ceylon continued. Land grabbing, credit restrictions, and the reluctance of those who had grain to sell it were all factors.
The British merchant fleet lost nearly a million tons of shipping and it is doubtful that they could have been effective in delivering in any case. The withdrawal of the fleet and preserving it for other theatres was unavoidable and not a big contributory factor to the famine. “ Churchill ordered the withdrawal of the fleet and so starved 4 million” is just nonsense.
Some Indian sources put the policies down to Churchills racism. The myth was used extensively by organisations agitating for an end to the Raj.
It is easy to pick a guilty party when so many factors contributed to the famine. British colonial civil servants were not particularly efficient or sympathetic to the local population and it is reasonable to put some blame there rather than a war leader several thousand miles away. Note that there was much inter regional rivalry. For eg, the Punjab banned exports of rice to Bengal.
See the Famine Commission report, Amartya Sen and many other sources.
