The thing is, that article and the views it represent are rooted in deep prejudice, intolerance and down right racism.
The core of the sentiment is based on the view that the sole purpose of middle eastern investment is to wash the image the west has of these 'dirty, horrible and untrustworthy brown Arabs".
It fails to recognise that the diminishing use of oil around the world will ultimately mean that many Arab states and private companies need to diversify to other profitable revenue streams, and the PL and CL are certainly profitable if done right (which city do).
What the article also fails to recognise (as most other media outlets and fans do) is that you only need look closer to home (as in the western world) for evidence of true sports washing over many many decades.
England and America have been using sports for years (Football's coming home...) to promote our condescending views that we are somehow more righteous, holy and decent than all the other plebs in the world.
However, we should never forget the atrocities and heanous activies our nations have been involved in recent and current history (just a few high level examples below).
The red shirt led mafia are both deluded and corrupt to the core if they truly believe that all middle eastern ownership is fundamentally wrong and they are right.
