PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

The more I think of it.. the more I think relegation would be off the cards (and stripping titles)

City has Pep and Haaland, two of the biggest stars and attractions in world football, playing in the Premier League. City has rivalries with United and Liverpool, big for TV deals views.
TV companies paying for the Premier League product wont be happy losing City, Haaland et al.

City owners have pumped millions into the UK economy, the UK Government wont take kindly to them being fucked over.

Stripping titles leaves open the chance for lawsuits from clubs who were relegated or missed out on money from previous wins/champions league.

£100 M Fine, 15 points deduction and 2 Transfer window bans (after Summer). I think most would accept that?
If you think City would accept this you live in La La land. Not a cat in hells chance

I think I'm still trying to take in all of the allegations etc that has been put to City... and first and foremost... it feels irritating and annoying at best.
.I hope against hope they are false/not proven .. thrown out etc.....

As far as I see it..City are accused of falsifying income and outgoings to ensure they comply with FFP.

As ever there are 3 sides to evey story..
.Citys version, the FA version...and possibly somewhere in between.. not necessarily the middle...... is the truth....

If city have breached the rules,.then yes. Punishment should be sought....surely not the level of losing league titles etc...imagine if the Aguero moment stood for nothing.
.
Whilst rules are to be adhered to, I can't help thinking about the reasons the rules were brought in.

The rules were brought in, to ensure the "big teams" were the only big teams, and nobody else could compete... to hold a monopoly in the league titles, almost a mini league that decides the champions... Chelsea just got bankrolled before the FFP come into effect.

But once city arrived at the Kings table....with the money.... the others didn't like it....

Is that the reason the rules should have been changed? How can teams who aren't already there ever get there.... if they are unable to invest more than those already there??
It comes down to greed and jealousy of the ones already there.... and again, as I've said, an understanding of why the rule of FFP was introduced... I positively hate the fact that the Mags are now totally minted,.but I hate it from the fact they are my rival.. and very likely going to be successful, not because they have a bottomless pit of money... what I'm saying is.....
I'm comfortable with any team getting backed.. except them haha.

At the end of the day, we have a league with the most money..and a league where any one of 4 or 5 teams could win it.
No other league gives that....

The rule was brought in for all of the wrong reasons, and its shit, and I for one hope that your amazing lawyers slalom out of this one, as to me, if a rule has been broken..ie FFP.... the rule should never have been introduced..

And the rule of sport and fair play was broken in the first instance when FFP was introduced.....

Good luck.....

We are all aware of the depth of intelligence our board have, lets hope they have cunning too. Imagine this;

In knowing that our club was being readied for a 'night of the long-knives' style que de gra by the odious four (Rags/Arse/Dippers/Spuds). We were secretly paying hackers/PIs etc to harvest dirt on those despicable clubs. Low and behold, we find an 'Aladins' Cave of absolute shit (corruption, deceit, underhanded dealings, irregularities yada yada). We lock it away for a rainy day. That rainy day is now upon us, let the shit storm unfold as our board threaten to unleash the plethora of smut. Watch the slimy feckers recoil (hopefully W****r is mentioned with a rent boy fetsish!! "We can but fantasise"!! ;)
As long as the don`t have a "cunning plan" like any of Baldricks !!

Yes absolutely.
I don't see why we should be required to cooperate in the first place.
If they've got the evidence then they don't require our cooperation and if they haven't then they shouldn't charge us.
As some of us keep saying, that is how a court of law operates. This isn’t a court of law however.
A court of law would also require full disclosure by the prosecution.
This isn’t a court of law.

I’m more optimistic and encouraged by some posts from those that are legally minded or have access to the club, but still expect this to go more down the lines of the uefa investigation without the recourse of CAS calling them out.

In a court of law, there would be legal argument over the admissibility of any of the hacked email evidence to start with. Without it there would not be 100+ charges, I suspect.
This is not a court of law.

This is why Leterme is shooting his mouth off, I believe.

I think this will be more of the same old shite for years.
The cartel win the longer they maintain this myth of us being the bad guys ruining football. That’s all we’ll get in the media ad nauseum.

I fully understand anyone who is at the end of their tether regarding football in general. It really makes you fall out of love with the game, not City.
As fans you start to ask why do we want to be part of what we despise so much…. But it’s the only game in town. What else can we be part of? It begs the question.

Thanks. Oh and a bit late I know but thanks for beating the Red Twats 2-1 back in May 1968 - the same day we beat the Mags as you call them 4-3 to win the First Division - happy days of when football was just a game.

I still feel that a heavy fine, mainly for non-cooperation (similar to CAS), is the most likely outcome.

That’s exactly what I think. The frustrating thing about it all is the fact that in the meantime so many people will simply take the charges by the PL at face value. We have had a target on our backs from the old guard for some time Rui Pinto’s hack gave them the weapon. This isn’t a well planned thorough investigation of wrongdoing but the last chance for the old top 6 to stop us.

These latest charges are the latest in a long line of grenades thrown our way. When we were first taken over they laughed, then once it was clear we meant business, they brought in FFP and the PL equivalent, then they moved the goalposts on FFP. We foolishly settled with them hoping for a seat at the table. Then it all went quiet for a while, it wasn’t because the we were slowly being accepted, it was only a pause while they waited for the chance to bring us down. Then Pinto hacked us so UEFA tried and initially succeeded but ultimately lost, now the Premier League is having its turn.

The old guard will never accept us unless they need us (super league…) it’s time to deal with that and stop playing nice. We’ve treated the media well and our reward is to be skewered every chance we get. Our owners have developed long neglected parts of Manchester, gave our stadium to the NHS at the height of covid. The reward has been continued disdain for the club and the project. Sportswashing and financial doping the latest buzz words in some justification for the mistrust and dislike of the club. Oil club, human rights abusers, more brickbats. Though funnily enough the UAE is a wildly popular tourist destination being the most liberal of Arab nations but while it’s a place to go it’s also apparently a hellish state of brutal restrictions.

It’s time to for the club to stop waiting fir the welcome mat to the inner circle and simply smash the door off on our way in. Playing nice has only got smiles from our rivals while they sharpen their knives.
