There's no way a seven-figure settlement for hacking doesn't get discussed at board level. It will have been a collective decision taken after a thorough examination of facts and the consequences, agreed with the club's lawyers. Nobody could have legislated for a scenario whereby it could have become a material issue a decade later.

Mullock said when the Times/Ziegler broke the story that he and other papers had it before, but Liverpool's legal threats stopped publication.

Presumably Ziegler either got a nod from a source so high up, the Times legal department was prepared to stand by it or the Times just don't give a fuck about Liverpool's threats. I think he actually got an industry award for breaking the story.

Woke up this morning and felt a need to write something as a life long Manchester City fan. So much negativity around the club that I love and have watched since 1968.

It has been said in the media world that the truth should never get in the way of a good story. Over the course of my life, 60 years this far, I have seen this to be self evident in many many situations, both sporting and non.

Their job is to sell newspapers, get clicks and stir the pot. It has always been so. It may feel different in this scenario because they are going after our beloved Manchester City but we have been here before and won. .

We know what it feels like to be fucked.To feel like it has all gone tits up.

Halifax in the Cup.
Luton and David Pleat.
Ricky Villa.
Years and years of spankings by the different red shirts. Knowing we were shit and still showing up. We were there, somewhere, having our own experience of being City.

We know what it feels like.

Unlike all of our antagonists, who have dined for a long time at the top table. Who gorged themselves on a cycle of unfettered success. Unchallenged because of the hegemony they created.
They became complacent and stuffed full of themselves and their self important shite. Corrupt and bloated to the core.

They do not know how it feels to lose.

So when we kicked the door down, because it was the only way in, and brought a level of competition they could not live with,they did not have the spine for the fight. None of them. They tried to meet us on the pitch and failed. They tried through UEFA to knock us out and they failed again. So now they resort to the only weapon they have left. Old money. Old power. Friends in high places. The real corruption. Hidden in plain sight.

But they have picked a fight with a club who know how to scrap.We know the pain of losing big and we know how to come back from that.

Dropping 2 divisions.

This club, players, management and of course us, the supporters, do not ever lie down.This too I have witnessed. Time and time again. We are City.
It is not even about the winning for me. When you have lost so many times you understand the balance of all things more deeply. You know you can always lose and it makes the joy of winning something our red friends will never ever get to experience.

The day Sergio scored was the loudest noise I ever heard in a football ground and I knew why. That banner. That sanctimonious, rub it in our faces spineless bunch of toss perpetrated by the prawn sandwich brigade. The old money. They never saw it coming. Noisy neighbours indeed.

I understood completely and more than ever before what it meant to be a Manchester City fan.
We can lose this current fight and we will still be here. That's what makes us a fucker to fight with. We don't know when we are beaten.

Once this is over and Mansour’s good name is intact. It might be time he sells the club to silver lake and they load it with 1-2 billion debt.

I'll tell you one thing, if City were really state owned, then the PL is accusing a sovereign state of engaging in persistent dishonesty over a sustained period. They'd be accusing the Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE of lying for his own gain and that of his country.

They call that sort of thing a diplomatic incident.

If that were truly the case, I suspect His Majesty's Government would have a word or two to say about it.

Im all for siege mentality etc, but at the same time I’m apoplectic about this whole affair! I loathe the idea of celebrating the league with blue ribbons on alongside the Premier League ribbons! …I think I want us to play the kids until the end of the season and let arsenal win it with a whimper and without a fight - why should we make their product more watchable and profitable, by putting up a fight, only for us to be told it’s irrelevant? Or am I missing a point here?

If it drags on for years… could we be top of the PL this time next year or the year after, whilst the PL are contriving to kick us out of the league.

Oh I do like the idea of the kids playing. It would certainly devalue the product. Unfortunately and probably correctly the club will behave with the upmost respect.the media and opposing team and fans will all be welcome in without a word said. Why change now? For all the owner has done for us, not taking on the media has been a a disastrous decision especially for fans.

Whoever it was at City who agreed to accept the money from Liverpool and close the matter was either unbelievably naive or absolutely stupid.

Probably the same fucking idiot who jumped in bed alongside the rags for the Super League, and who agreed to issue the joint message with Liverpool about fan behaviour.

Get what you’re saying, but whilst the Liverpool staff member committed a crime, City would’ve also been found to be in breach of GDPR, which would potentially carry a fine of around £20m, so maybe not so stupid after all eh?

It’s all to do with why cas threw it out so early! Time barred! So after the all we have heard from the media that we got of because it was time barred, when in fact City wanted to show then we were fine but we wasn’t allowed too!

Not everything was time barred. IMO anything that we were cleared of that didn't fall under the time barred umbrella should be legally barred from being brought forward again by the EPL. What kind of nonsense is that? Also why didn't the EPL move to sanction us when UEFA ruled against us issuing a 2 year ban in European competition. They allowed us to continue unfettered in the Prem and then waited until well after CAS ruled in our favor to present us with basically the same charges? These fuckers should be given a proper beating and then tossed into jail...fucking hateful, cowardly hypocrites. Absolutely disgusting!
