PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I would also add that the resignation of BDO as City's auditor would have been a disaster for City on so many levels, giving BDO the leverage to ask for absolutely all sorts of information (beyond the normal scope of an audit).

I'm guessing here, but I'd imagine they had iron clad documentary evidence from Etihad and other relevant third parties.

I learn about human psyche from Twitter. I come here for clear info on progress on the charges. I dont want to read pointless posts about how amateur sleuths have broken down the pysche of Harris or magic hat, again and again and again. It WAS entertaining.
There won't be any clear info until the IC publish their conclusion and I suspect it will get its very own dedicated thread. Until then treat this as the transfer forum: its shit stirrers, unconfirmed itks, gossip, and journalist brand building!

your defence of them doesnt fill me with hope when you spend most of your day pissing about on here ;)

:) Tbf, I should probably disclose I quit external auditing 30 years ago. Processes may have changed, but I doubt the principles have.

The British people hate winners. The clamour to find us guilty is just a way to stop us from winning more. They don’t care if we are wrongly found guilty.

This is just wrong.

The clamour to find us guilty is led by the media, but that's not because they hate winners. It's because a clamour to find us guilty generates significantly more revenue than would a clamour to find us innocent.

The media are in it for themselves - for the money.

This works in a number of ways. Self evidently, there is much more engagement in anything that says 'City are guilty' than in the opposite. This is because fans of the most popular teams all want us to be guilty, therefore will engage more actively with anything that reflects that. Every single media outlet with any serious presence has explored the 'City are Guilty' story from numerous angles, and they have all gone down very well with a lot of people who get to read the stories they want to read.

Of course, it is not just a question of what gets clicks. The stories that are planted and leaked, they are done by individuals with their own agenda. What might be in it for the journalists writing this stuff up? Access? Further leaks? Off-the-record briefings? There is a long history of journalism being a two-way-street - you scratch my back etc.

The important point is that this is not some particular quirk of the British people. There are vested interests at work. That is why there is such a clamour to find City guilty.

that would explain pissing about on here all day, principles never change, ideas get more convoluted, processes get more ridiculous but the basic tenets never actually change
