PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

No idea where it was originally posted that a 6 point deduction was offered but it’s obviously complete bollocks.

Why would the PL offer a 6 point settlement to City at pretty much the same time they were recommending the IC punish more than that for Forest and Everton for minor PSR transgressions.

Maybe because that is exactly the sort of settlement they will offer to Chelsea and, firstly, the PL aren't too confident of landing the most serious charges and, secondly, consistency in treatment of sanctions is a pretty fundamental principle.

And the rumour wasn't just a six point penalty it was a six point penalty and a substantial fine.

And the rumour didn't come from some KFA on Twitter, it came from @Prestwich_Blue who said it was second hand and so should be treated with caution.

So, do I think something like that was offered? It's possible. A lot of cases end in a settlement. Maybe the rumour was just part of the offered settlement, along with some other sporting sanctions. Who knows? But I tend to believe what Prestwich_Blue says at face value when he says anything. He has earned that right imho.

If I recall correctly they had a bit of a sticky patch with significant losses, starting around 2016 and running for a few years. Nearly 2B USD loss in 2016 on an 8B USD turnover. This of course wouldn't have relevance to anything predating 2016, when they were running a profit.

Weren't they losing billions at the time of the first sponsorship? Not that it really matters. They were funded by one of the richest governments on the planet. If they were short of 40 million, they have never needed Mansour to chip in with his petty cash.

That countdown set a lass off crying in the row in front of me, which almost set me off. It was a perfect fuck you to those bastards for that belittling sign, especially the way the day transpired

Whoever thought of it should be given the freedom of Manchester
It was indeed a ‘shawshank’ moment

He was so 'calm' he failed to counter any of Jordan's anti City bullshit.

You are missing the point.

It is a brief discussion that reaches different levels.

You are one level and Simon has reached you. You only care about innuendo and, in your words, bullshit slinging. There will be plenty like you.

There are a fair few other levels he can't reach. But Stefan can.

The two are targeting a completely different audience.

Not really much point in Stefan turning up a) because Jordan has a closed mind, and b) nothing has actually changed since he was last in the studio.

Other than, the hearing starting, the location being revealed, the impact of the press knowing about it, the make-up of each side's legal team, an explanation of that structure, its potential cost, the process of reviewing it, what happens in what order and how long it might take, nothing at all has changed.

The league also had Everton and Forest dead to rights, smoking gun and all.

In our case they have probably spent loads and loads of money on a legal team and defense, and if they offered it, it may be along the lines of they would rather get something as opposed to nothing. They could spin it as a victory without spending tons of money and time on a legal team that doesn’t even guarantee a win. It will have been a two year process to just get the tribunal started and finished plus an additional 4 years of investigating. It will have been 6 years and if they lose they will have spent a ton of money with nothing to show for it.
I note that some of their arguments still include Everton, Notts Forest and unbelievably Leicester.
As we know the first 2 admitted rule breaks and L appealed and won so maybe the madia don't mention these differences?
Can only assume they are selective in what they print or read.

Don’t watch the latest Overlap episode if you would like to avoid a head explosion. How they can legally get away with some of the stuff said on there is beyond me. You’ve got some daft scouse cow actually say “because you cheated”, no “alleged” in there nothing. We are also back to being “state-owned”, again, nobody there to correct that comment. It’s all an absolute fucking disgrace.

If the club have done what we are accused of, we will face the consequences (rightly so) but I feel like us fans have already done a 5+ year sentence on this despite it apparently being innocent until proven guilty. This is where the club have failed miserably and let us down. They should have been all over this from day 1…you call us guilty, you call us cheats…you’re getting a letter from our lawyers and if you continue, we will take everything you own. Instead we invite them into the club for press conferences, tea and biscuits.

Nothing wrong with the high road, no matter how annoying it may be for us.

Edit: btw, I don't watch The Overlap because it was shit for morons when it started, it is still shit for morons and it will always be shit for morons.

Usually watch the overlap, when I seen it the headline of the show on YouTube I just thought won't be watching that because we know what the narrative will be and opposing bias jealous bitter fans giving them a voice on this it's only going to be one way!

If it was say the rags getting negative narrative for years with the same smear from the media continually I'd be thinking the same! Fans are in nature bias and will believe any waffle if it's against other clubs especially a club who are winning everything!

Its a show purely aimed at rags, dippers and tarquins. You only have to look at the panel and know whenever it comes to City we know the way it will go. Its no different to reading the ragcaf or rawk.

I don’t disagree but these morons have a huge platform and the club should have nipped this in the bud early doors. You’ve got Spitty there acting like the Pied Piper and yet within the next few weeks, he will no doubt be welcomed into the Etihad to commentate on a game. It’s all wrong. Theres taking the high ground and then there just plain shooting yourself in the foot.

I believe engaging with all that shit would be shooting ourselves in the foot. If our owners dare defend themselves they will be drowned out by the massive media hatred. The media have the bigger and louder voice. Facts and truth are the only way.

Much of that was known beforehand and, frankly, isn't of interest to TS listeners who don't support City. They only care that things are underway and when City are going to 'get done'. Stefan does not get the airtime he both needs and deserves, so in essence all we are left with is Jordan regurgitating the same bollocks.

Not, if as our chairman says, we're totally innocent. We fought UEFA and won, though that wasn't enough for the media and trolls who still label us as cheats. 99% of these cretins are convinced of our guilt in this case. Accepting a settlement would still leave a cloud over us. It's now Armageddon time for us and a chance to once more clear our name.

Have to agree with this. The club has given no indication now or against UEFA that they were willing to settle and offer any implication of guilt.

The club genuinely believe they're innocent and are willing to fight this to the death. Settling for even a small points deduction pretty much admits some form of wrongdoing.

Sometimes saying nothing will piss them off more than replying.

To quote a couple of lines from a song called Art School on The Jam's debut album In The City

"And never worry if people laugh at you
The fools only laugh 'cos they envy you
"
That’s a possible flag
