PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Pep has been scarred by the 'gung ho' CL defeats of a few years back, culminating in the uneccessry final defeat agin Chavs.

Those events / experiences probably convinced him to change to less risky, possession based, game which, until this season, has been successful but less exciting.

lmo, we need to change again because the game has changed with better coaches, players and teams capable of good effective perfomances.

Rebuild,refit,refresh.

New DoF
New Players
New Stand
New.....?

Top footballing keeper.
Rock solid defence.
CM pivot.
Powerful creative mids.
Fast,direct wingers.
Goal scoring strikers
25 man first team squad of elite players.

I doubt if well ever see another CENTURIANS team again but something close would be fantastic.

The dips & chavs are on the right lines !!
This ..

There were some moments of brilliance - Bobb at Newcastle for example - but I agree the team seemed to have dropped a level from it's peak. Pep was able to get enough from the team to win the league and reach the FA Cup final which is great success in anyone's book but signs of emerging issues were evident.

Pep has been too loyal to players that have delivered success but now are struggling to deliver what his strategy demands. We also have too many players who just cannot stay fit. I love Stones, Ake, KdB etc. but we cannot rely on them and maybe it is time to ease them out? It will be a very sad day when we part company with Kev - probably the best player I have seen at City although it's great that others like Sergio, Dave and Yaya are in that conversation.

I also think Pep needs to rethink his small squad preference. In quite a few of our recent seasons we have stumbled to the finishing line and having two more genuine first team players in the squad would have helped immensely. This might make it even harder for youngsters to break through though - no simple solutions.

Finally is a review of our medical processes needed? The number of injured players we have is crazy. I know this tends to snowball with half fit players returning and getting crocked again.
This and only this

Fatigue & Physiological stress are probably the principle reasons for injuries following 4 seasons of 70 intense 'cup finals'

Pep warned about this 3 years ago and the 'player load' has increased since then.

Very few of our injuries have been caused by tackles or impact, most have been strains & pulls.

A bigger, younger squad is essential to successfully compete in a 70 game season.
So why did Pep do fuck all about it then?

Back when we were battering teams 3/4-0. He still refused to make changes.

We've had young lads glued to the bench because De Bruyne had to do the full 90 in every single game possible and repeat that for several members of the first team.

I'm GFAB not Pep but its a valid question.

Pep said something the other week that was worrying. I paraphrase:
‘When you have injuries, the amount of running you can do is less. The time to rest is when we are in possession and we should do our running when out of possession.’
This would explain the endless negative passing people complain about and, it seems to me, is not the right way to solve our problems. It is very uncreative and limits us to one goal per game, even with 70% possession. Given our defensive woes, this means we are unlikely to win.
You posted above that Pep would rather lose than change the way we play. There is a lot of truth in that and Pep’s stubbornness could be our undoing.
After so many losses, I would be tempted to adopt the low block, fast break system. We have players who can do this: Phil, Jack, Doku, Savinho, Erling etc. plus any selection of uncrocked defensive players we can muster! I can’t see Pep doing a Dyche, but we will not solve our problem by repeating the same losing formula week after week.
hope he doesnt do it against everton nobody from eithr team will cros halfway line
sorry everton players will still get cramp in first ten minutes

Can one of the MODs tidy this thread up a bit?

Everytime I come onto it, there's talk about Pep, injuries, players performances etc absolutely no link to the thread title at all

There's plenty of threads knocking about to discuss those areas (that have been done to death!)
I agree. This thread is all over the place

I’m not talking about our poor results lately. I’ve been a fan since 1976, and, bizarrely enough, I find it refreshing to face some challenges now and then. City should be a rollercoaster, not a highway. However, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that there’s a chance we might lose the 115 case against the Premier League. If that happens, the reality is that we’ll likely lose our place at the top table for a couple of seasons.
Likewise, late 70s.
Even if we lose, I don't see a scenario where we're relegated.
