PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Two little questions

1, on the back of which clubs going bust were the financial rules brought in ?

2, how can clubs have over a billion in debt under rules to stop them being in danger of going bust ?
The amount of debt is not per se the key thing. The question is: Can the club meet its interest and other obligations? If a club makes £300m p.a. can it pay interest of, say £80m on £1bn debt, and meet its other obligations? In the rags case the answer is yes, especially if you don’t maintain your stadium. Once you start to plan a new stadium the equation changes, hence Jim’s cost cutting programme.

As you very well know, FFP/PSR was not brought in to stop clubs going bust, but to stop clubs challenging the existing elite

So if MCFC decided to take response

You have mixed in and around the club, talked to people there. Why do you believe that they do not take action against people in the media responsible for the defamation ?
It is baffling though the club has been more proactive since Vicky Kloss left. I can only assume that City don't want to rock the boat with the 115 result so close. It is possible they will take some action after we have won the case.

I know that really ;) !
Old Trafford must be getting close to not meeting the statium standards for the pl. It already fails on not having a big screen.

I've posted this on media thread:

I've listened to all 4 epsiodes and there wasn't anything new in there - just charting the history of City since the 70s. The joy of 93.20 and Champions League etc. Lot's of clipped contributions from the likes of Nedum, Parker, Cheeseman, Brobyn and Big Steve. All fine.

The biggest contribution was from the Der Spiegel guy who gave a rehash about the leaks and emails.Pearce a liar etc. He was his normal vindictive self and very supportive of Pinto. Yet again absolutely no take whatsover on our side of the story as documented so well on here.

Kieran Maguire clipped saying we could expect, in his view, a hefty points points penalty IF the IC finds against us for the more serious offences. They didn't play the other clip where he thinks it wil be very difficult for the PL to prove.
Di Marco didn't add anything of significance either.

Portsmouth is often mentioned, including officially by the PL, as the use case for PSR/FFP rules.

The problem with that is that Pompey went bust because the owner wanted his shareholder loan repaid, not because they were spending more than they earned. Being unable to meet large debts such as tax bills, transfer fee installments or loan repayments is what kills most clubs.

And there's nothing in those rules to cover this. They're backward looking.

The decision will not be leaked, it will be announced as a 'blockbuster' !!

It will be followed shortly after by announcements on new Etihad & FAB sponsorships.

With a huge increase in sponsorship revenue, along with increased revenue from the NS, Hotel, Fan Zone & Arena, the club should announce a 2/3 year ticket price freeze along with a 5% credit from this seasons season ticket prices.

This is a God sent opportunity for the club to reward the fans a commence the rebuilding of relationship with fans.

Don't miss this opportunity City !!

Don't suppose he mentioned anything about them publishing doctored e-mails (if they didn't amend them themselves that is).

No chance. Soriano is working on his next book: "Your eye doesn't get taken off the ball by chance".

Something will break if there is a huge increase in sponsorship but no concessions/freezes/credits for fans.

The big boss & Khaldoon's reputations are under close scrutiny re their historical statements about the value of City fans.

Actions now speak louder than words because, once trust is fractured or lost, its very hard to regain it.

Decision time gentleman !!

Take your point completely, however this angle suggests City are guilty - it’s just difficult to prove.

The more balanced angle is that it’s highly unlikely numerous high profile individuals have conducted multi-million-pound corporate fraud across major international organisations over a 10 year period.

So if MCFC decided to take response

You have mixed in and around the club, talked to people there. Why do you believe that they do not take action against people in the media responsible for the defamation ?
I've had a number of discussions about this.

Initially it was orders from above and I can see why, as there was no desire to come out with all guns blazing and put the backs of the media up. But we did take action when warranted, including against The Sun for a untrue story that Sheikh Mansour had gifted each player and expensive watch. There was also the story that Mancini had been in the crowd at Hughes' last game.

I was also told that we did a lot of work behind the scenes, so if we weren't happy with a story we'd approach the journalists then their editors. And I'm told there have been cases where there has been substantial sums paid to charities for untrue stories.

There was also a general view that everything would calm down once we were seen as a successful club. Quite clearly there was an astonishing level of naivety over the attitude of our detractors in hindsight, and the level of control and influence they had over people in the media.

The next tactic involved trying to bring selected journalists onside, by giving them more information and generally being more open with them. Sadly those selected journalists appear to have included Nick Harris, Conn, probably Winter and Ziegler, and possibly even Delaney as well. I know they flew Conn out to Abu Dhabi for an exclusive with Khaldoon. That tactic obviously ended badly.

By 2019 the scales had finally fallen from their eyes and one senior club official dragged me into a quiet corner muttering darkly about the US-owned clubs and geopolitics. There were also interesting snippets about specific journalists, including Delaney. He'd turned between us winning the PL at Brighton in 2019 and the FA Cup Final that completed the quadruple. I was told he was definitely being fed his lines by another red-shirt wearing, US-owned club.

I also suspect there's also some reluctance to wield the big stick as we don't want any unfavorable comparisons with press freedom in the UAE. But, as I've said before, we should be publicly acting against stuff likr the baseless and unsubstantiated vitriol put our by Herbert. Make him justify his allegations about us wanting to destroy financial regulation in football in a courtroom. That's not stifling the freedom of the press. The other shills would think twice if we did that.

The Watford cup final was clearly when a certain group of hacks went into overdrive, wouldn’t be at all surprised if they’d all had the same brief from one of our enemies
Iirc it was in the press conference after the final the lowlife (edit) Rob Harris asked Pep, without any substance or evidence, if he was taking money off the books?

Nick's a monumental ****, but it was Rob Harris who was the guilty man on that occasion. To be fair, he's a monumental **** as well.
