Plastic Bags

Does it apply to sick bags on flights in UK airspace too?

Sad fact is in environmental terms I am not sure this makes 0.00000000000000000001% difference in the long term. Guy on the TV this morning said just about all the bags - whether the see thru ones - bags for life - or jute bags for life - are made in China and Vietnam. A container full of the bags for life types holds only about 35% of the number of bags in a "throw away" container full. So if you consider your bags carbon footprint carrier bag one just shot up.

Also a lot of people reused plastic bags as bin liners, to collect dog shit in when walking the dog, carrying the lunch to work. They will probably just go and buy a bag specifically designed for those tasks - bin liners- dog poo bags ( scented ) - sandwich bags - all made out of plastic.

All those people who don't like the idea of their diesel car now will probably replace it with a petrol one.

We just have to face it the world is a bit of a shit hole rubbish dump coz we made it that way but we didn't do it overnight so the idea we all buy plastic bags and thats environmentalism solved overnight is frankly a piss take.

**WINNER OF THE BLUEMOON 2015 MOST BORING TOPIC OF THE YEAR AWARD**

Went to Tesco yesterday.....

Been stood outside Tesco all day today selling plastic bags for 2p ;)

Joking aside, will this Plastic Bag charge decrease pollution/overusage of plastic bags?
I've not looked into what effect it's had in neighbouring places such as Ireland.

I do think it will stop a large number of people from constantly getting everything bagged in plastic bags and never re-using them... Instead converting to the habit (which I'm already in) of using re-usable bags.

I bought these bags from Aldi a few years ago and take them with me for every shop.
I haven't used plastic bags for years.

Will you stop using plastic bags yourself? or happilly pay the 5p?
SORRY THOUGHT IT SAID PLASTIC RAGS I'm off

We've had to do this for a while, 5p is such an insignificant amount it doesn't work on me at least. I always forget to bring bags down to the shops with me and have no qualms about paying 5p for a bag. Very often they don't even bother charge you it.

I never pay for placcy bags. Except in aldi. More than offset by the stuff I'm buying anyway. If the others took that approach? We'll see but ain't holding my breath. In the meantime, I'll take a free plastic bag with my Stella, ta.

I really don't buy the whole reduce pollution thing with this. If they were serious about that then they'd charge 50p or a quid per bag an amount that would really put people off or just stop the shops from providing them. I really doubt there are enough people tight fisted enough over 5p for this to make a difference.

They charge for bags here in South Australia. I think it's 15cents or something. I never buy them though, if I get caught I just use my accent and say I'm on holiday and didn't realise I had to buy them. Guess I can't do that anymore :(
