The decision to award Qatar the World Cup was rotten to the core.

The weather would have been way to hot, but it was still awarded.

Then it gets moved to Nov/Dec, which completely fucks up the domestic calendar.

The Premier League will have to shut down for about 7 weeks? The CL and Europa League will have to cram in the group games early, the League Cup the same.

I can't see how anyone thinks it's a good idea, unless they have a vested interest.

The only time the whole world of football is in total agreement.

I think the World Cup in Qatar might surprise a few people in terms of organisation, weather, sporting spectacle. We’ll also not have to put up with pissed twats in England shirts giving it the big I am to other fans, bar the Russians of course

There are plenty of blues, who are not all pissed up twats who watch England.

I certainly will not be going if that is the welcome I would get from the locals.

Regardless of whether Qatar gave bribes, would Platini have been arrested if he helped tender the World Cup to the Americans or some European country in the same way? I really don't think so.

I’ve not heard how the leagues plan to adjust suspect early start and later finish, but likely 4 weeks of sunshine football and instead of 4 weeks of winter league football.
Been here 2 years and the transformation is quiet astonishing.

I think it will be a tv tournament.

Nope no way. USA, Saudi's, are all after Iran and Qatar. That's why this is news, Platini was unfortunate to back/help a country that is not liked right now

Platini should still serve his time in jail if they find enough proof.

It was done via corruption.

A fair contest, would not be a problem. They would all accept it.

People put a lot of time & money into their World Cup bids & had the piss taken out of them due to bribery. They didn't accept that.

Several media have reported corruption in all World Cup bid back from 1998 World Cup in France. And i'm convinced even before there was corruption. This is how it goes.

Qatar is just an obvious case because it is hard to legitimely understand why they would be chosen over other countries. Doesn't change the fact everyone buys their World Cup, Olympics and so on.

I’m not a local mate, I’m a gorton lad working here. The locals are very welcoming.
Re-England fans, haven’t been to watch them since they had a pre World Cup friendly at the Etihad and I had to sit with my sons whilst a load of southern England fans gave it ‘large’.
Obviously not damning all England fans but the knobheads I imagine will more likely think twice about kicking off here than perhaps in, oh I don’t know portugal
